An amazing day at Solheim Cup 2019 played out during my show on Saturday.
In the final matches of team play, the U.S. had the lead in three matches and tied in the fourth. An hour later, Europe pulled out what seemed like an improbable victory. The score - tied 8 -8 going into Sunday Singles.
The show starts with Ron Sirak, multiple award winning golf writer, author, Special to LPGA and Golf Channel and Global Golf Post contributor.
He sets the stage with the winds gusting to 40 mph and temperatures in the 40's, the pace was slow but the play was amazing, given the conditions. It looked like USA was going to finish off the day with a lead, not good for Europe, traditionally considered less strong in that part of the Ryder Cup like format.
We cut to Dave Shedloski, award winning golf writer for Golf Digest, and author, who takes us to The Military Tribute at The Greenbrier. The story is the PGA Tour rookies on top of the leaderboard and the 59 shot by Kevin Chappell in his first appearance back on the PGA Tour after back surgery a year ago. What a return!
PGA Tour Player of the Year, and Tiger Woods leaving a cryptic signature on e a PGA Tour blog implying he'll be Playing Captain during Presidents Cup...or maybe not. You'll love the answer.
Golf Analyst and writer Ron Mintz is working with Exec Global Tours to bring some of the top names in golf to the world of golf tours, which he'll no doubt enjoy being part of. Mintz was a regular Wednesday guest on Hank Haneys show.
We go back to the Solheim Cup to find out how the final matches played out with author and golf writer Lewine Mair at Gleneagles. I'm thrilled to hear we're "all square"...tied as it is called now...8-8 going into singles.
And I can't help but ask about Gleneagles Hotel. It's amazing to look at and from what Mair tells me, amazing inside.
Great guests, great show.
