This is your first skincare campaign. What is your one ultimate skincare tip? Cleanse thoroughly before you go to bed and moisturise. It's what I've been saying for years. It's a must because your skin rejuvenates overnight, that's when it's healing; when you're resting, it's working - your skin is an organ.

When you have to wear loads of heavy make-up for shoots and on stage, what are your tips for caring for your skin under those conditions? It's harder actually; it's a lot harder because the make-up has to stay on - and being under those lights in that environment - the make-up is a lot harsher on the skin. So it's just extra cleansing and taking more time. I'll take a muslin cloth or just a good old flannel and I take the first layer off with wipes then I'll wash it a couple of times and use the flannel so it's all off. Sometimes I come off stage and I am on a high - the adrenaline is pumping and the last thing I want to do is wash my face, but I force myself!

What are your hero beauty products?  Well at the moment it's the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Advanced Correcting Serum.

You recently tweeted a photo of yourself make-up free... Are you comfortable going without make-up despite being in the public eye? You know it's funny but it's only really recently that I have been. Actually the advert was a help. [Before] shooting that I was so apprehensive… I've always had the big bouncy hair or the eyeliner or the lip-gloss and I had nothing. I had mascara and the blur cream [Magic Touch Instant Blur]. I came on to set and I was like 'hi' to the French guy [on set], "I'm supposed to be the one doing the advert!" - but it was liberating.

How old were you when you first started experimenting with make-up? About 12 maybe; I was always in dance competitions when I was little so sometimes they might do the odd like a smudge of make-up, we were never allowed like mascara or big make up looks or anything like that but they might do a green eye, so from really young so from really young I was experimenting on my own, trying to do steady eyeliner.!

Talk us through your hair and beauty regime on a night out? If I am getting myself ready - hair, make-up all of that - it takes me about 2 to 2 and a half hours. I'm not joking! If someone is helping or if someone is doing my hair and I'm doing my make-up then it's not so bad - but it's actually quite stressful doing both my hair and makeup! I find doing my make-up quite therapeutic but hair, not so much. I love heat protector spray if I am just going to pull the curling iron thorough it - and if you use the curlers a lot of people don't realise you have to pull them out or brush them out so they don't stay like that ringlet look, so it's more of a tousled look.

Do you ever go to bed without taking your make-up off? On the rare, rare occasion I do, I hate myself for it!

Who's your celebrity hair icon? I feel like there are so many beautiful women out there, it's hard [to choose]. Or sometimes you just see like an everyday girl on the street and I'll think "wow" she looks amazing. I love Marilyn Monroe - I like individuality.

Have you been tempted to try the dip-dye or rainbow hair colour trends? No I haven't. I think it's cute on Little Mix and stuff; I look at them and think I went through that phase, as well. In the beginning I would have pink streaks one day and blue streaks the next, I think I've been every colour of the rainbow. Maybe not all at the one time like some people but I think some of it's really creative and looks amazing on them. 

What's your ultimate beauty secret? It's cleansing but it's the internal stuff too; it's what you eat and what you drink. You really should combine the two. You can pixel perfect your skin until the cows come home but if you're eating McDonalds every day, chances are you're not going to have great skin. I drink loads of water, I exercise. I'm just sensible about it, it's common sense. For the skin itself ultimately it is cleansing and having the right active ingredients - some of the ingredients in the L'Oreal Skin Perfection range that are incredible. You see it in the top stuff; it's really amazing.
