Something I don't quite understand is why Solas locked his prison for the Evanuris with regret. From what we know of the Evanuris, they were corrupt by the time he locked them away. How many of them would actually regret what they had done enough for it to hold them?
I mean, certainly Elgar'nan wouldn't—and doesn't. The only thing I can think of that he would "regret" is losing, but he wouldn't take that as a personal failing. He would—and does—blame that on Solas. And Ghila'nain was so far gone that she actually believed she was helping. There isn't regret in her, only contempt for progress halted. And, of course, we see how well it was holding them. Solas was trying to transfer them to a new prison at the beginning of Veilguard because his was no longer working.
Solas is always so adamant that he is not a god and refuses to proclaim himself as one, insisting a separation between him and the Evanuris. And yet, upon designing his "perfect prison" for these creatures, he created something that would only perfectly hold him in the end.
Solas is such pure, somber poetry.
