I talked a lot about my love of stellarian as a term, an astral-themed term to mean neutral-aligned or unaligned. I truly love the idea. But, I mourn the loss of the original intent of stellarian, lunarian, and solarian (found here.)
This set of terms was meant to be a way to describe a nonbinary person in ungendered alignment terms without them being used as a weapon against them. Stellarian was originally a Stellar Nonbinary Person, someone who is unligned or who rejects alignment. This would later be split into stellarian (neutral-aligned or unaligned) and singularian (rejection of alignment.) Solarian - a Solar Nonbinary Person - describes a nonbinary person who is male-aligned; it would later be described as being masculine-aligned. Lunarian meant a Lunar Nonbinary Person, someone who is woman-aligned; it would later be reworked to mean feminine-aligned.
I love the Galactian Alignment System and I also love the original intent of these terms, to talk specifically about our relationship to the binary and our rejection of the concept. But it's not fair to just... "reclaim" or "repurpose" these terms because they're already used in a specific way to represent concepts people actually experience.
So, I propose: Bringing back these cosmic terms - Stellar Nonbinary Person (left), Solar Nonbinary Person (middle), and Lunar Nonbinary Person (right.) They all maintain their original defintions, with the intent to discuss how nonbinary people tend to be forcibly binarized and having alignment concepts weaponized against them.
Stellar Nonbinary People are nonbinary people who are not aligned with either nonbinary gender, or those who reject such alignment.
Solar Nonbinary People are nonbinary people who are male-aligned and share experiences with men without actually being men.
Lunar Nonbinary People are nonbinary people who are female-aligned and share experiences with women without actually being women.
I don't consider this a coining post or anything, but I did decide to use my stellarian redesign to actually represent being a Stellar Nonbinary Person. I like that better.
