That Friday feeling. So' Hop is a pale ale packed full of flavour from Moor Beer, based here in Bristol.Β
Hoppy but smooth at the same time, and all down to a wicked combination of British Floral Malt with Tropical Southern Hemisphere Hops. Modestly unreal.Β
Top stuff!
Let me know if youβre coming to visit Hopkins tomorrow during SOHOP!
Iβll be at the Theta table during the Activities Expo, giving a tour at 2pm, performing in the dance show, and then hosting at night!!

Why is packing always the hardest thing to do?
hey, I'm going to be attending JHU and was curious about SOHOP. I couldn't make it, but what was it like? How were the dorms?
Hey! Ok I'll walk you through my entire two days (sorry ahead for spelling/grammar errors, I'm On my phone). So I got there around 1 and I dropped off my things in their gymnasium area, they converted it into a check in and eating area. They gave me this plastic folder that had all of my info in it, like the schedule for the two days, time tables for available classes to sit in on, etc. my mom insisted on eating so we went to the FFC which is like he freshmen cafeteria since its on the freshman quad. After we went back to the Rec center since they were starting informal and formal tours. It was already past 1:30 so I missed a chance to sit in on a bio class so a student led us to an anthropology class instead. It was my mom, me and this other pre-frosh and her mother. The class was kind of dull but it the students were really curious as to why we were sitting in the back of their class, they kept turning around lol. Uh, around 3 the activities fair thing started where all the clubs and sports teams and student groups and Greek groups etc were out and talking about their opportunities. Lol to really make us want to actually talk to all of these people they gave us this kind of bingo card that we had to fill with different categories of student groups to fill up and win a "priZe". So then after that it was nearing 5 and so my mom had to leave, from then on it was admitted students only :). We went to dinner and (luckily) they gave us assigned seats so there was no awkward standing and mingling. My table was really chill and awesome, there were people from all across the country. We found it funny that for the different areas to get food, Hopkins set up one stand just for mashed potatoes... It was funny to us lol all of the other areas were more varied like burgers or tacos. The tables played trivia against each other, our table was 3 so we called ourselves distric 3 for the game haha. After dinner we split up to go to the faculty lectures we chose to go to before the day started. I chose a lecture on neurology and sight/comprehension. It was interesting, the teacher did a study on one of the Hopkins students and they found out that she kind of percieves things in the mirror image. Like, if you place a cup on the right side of her desk she would see and reach for the left. Ok I admittedly drifted off a few time s because it was really warm in the room but I saw a few people with closed eyes haha. After the ever eager students had so many questions so that lasted a lIttle while longer. After we reconnected with Our groups and were Paired off with our hosts! My friend and I were paired with Grace, who lives in AMR II. We dropped off our stuff and then we went to this carnival style event held on the freshman quad - the a Capella groups were out there, they had games and s'more making and henna and this awesome inflatable obstacle course. It would have been great if it wasn't 43 degrees that night lmao. I got henna and then we all ran inside around 11 to thaw out. Everyone in the Clark house in AMR ll were SUPER friendly, we had a little dorm party in my host's dorm with me, my new friend, Grace's roommate's pre-frosh, this other girl and her pre- and then just a few other freshmen. We sat around and talked until about 2 Am about Hopkins, our schools, other colleges, and just about ourselves. I was dead tired by then, I'm used to staying up late and stuff but I was sick so I really just wanted to sleep haha. So all 5 of us cramped into the room and slept. We woke up around 8 to get ready for breakfast at 8:30. The second day was more do whatever, since parents where there and they just had exposes the entire day. I went to the bio presentation and then a dorm tour! So here's what I have gathered about the dorms. AMR I and ll are traditional college dorms - they consist of long hallways With people's rooms on both sides. I didn't really care for the amrs, the rooms are small and kind of dank. A lot of people like them though because they are the most social since you can just go in and out of all of the rooms or leave your door open and chill in the hallways. Also the bathrooms are communal single sex with two showers and two stalls. All dorms are coed btw. Buildings A and B are suite style - rooms can be two doubles with a shared bathroom or a single with a triple. These rooms are really nice but there is litte social interaction. The hallways are quiet and the people are quiet but the rooms are the largest ones, but just by a little. The last dorm is Wollman, which I found to be the best all around. The building is new with 9 floors with two elevators. Rooms are also suite style but on every floor there is a common room in the center. These rooms are only doubles or a few singles, so you can't get screwed over lol. The rooms are the prettiest and newest looking ones, though just a tiny bit smaller than buildings a and b but still larger and nicer than the amrs. The building has a movie theater, game room, and a separate gym in the basement. The only negative about Wollman is that it's off campus! It's across the street, and since it isn't on the freshman quad, some people don't like it bc they think it's disconnected, but really I think it's just fine. Btw the amrs and a and b also have common rooms and stuff but no movie theater or gym. All dorms have private study areas and AMRs have music practice rooms if you're into that. I sound so biased lol but I really liked Wollman out of all of the dorms so that will be my first choice. They said that most freshmen either get, if not their first choice then at least their second. After the tours I went to the writing sem presentation. I plan on being pre med but i want to major in one of the humanities so I've started scoping stuff out. That's basically it, I showed my mom around and then we left around 2. Wow that was long haha. Oh and Hopkins is just beautiful; the campus is small but it doesn't feel small, it's very green and open and college-y. That's all I can think of for now, ask me more questions if I didn't go into enough details on some things :)
SOHOP was awesome! If you're thinking about going, I say definitely go!
Ask me any questions if you have any, I just got home a few hours ago :)
