Here’s some of the earliest concept designs for Tora, Sohe, Myo, and Trip the Warrior.
These are actually pretty old -I made them before the Flirt Saga (and you can tell because I ended up changing Sohe’s outfit before her first appearance). I did still use them (surprisingly still useful) but stuff changed while I was making the comics. Most notably, Trip doesn’t look the same. He went through a magical hipster beard makeover after I designed this and well.. he has that magic helmet on all the time anyways so.... it kinda worked out.
You can also see some of my early struggles with sizing characters (Myo and Trip are weirdly gigantic??), which is actually something I still struggle with tbh...
