Okay so I think I found the problem -after SO much work going through files and shit-
But uh.
I'm pretty fucking sure it's not Malware, actually. And I can't get it to STOP saying that the API is malware.
I've already done the thing to allow app downloads from anywhere. I've already turned on developer tools to allow Stardew Valley, Steam, and Terminal to run software that doesn't meet security requirements.
It's just not working. If anybody has any idea what's going on, please PLEASE give me a shout.
Hi! I was just wondering if I'm the only one that recently updated FanFicFare plug-in for calibre and now it "disappeared" and I can't add it to the menu bar (both of them.) I had it on the bottom one since the last problem I had once an update. I decided to update since dl from ao3 has been such a hassle lately, but now I can't do anything. I've tried downloading different versions of calibre, installing/unistalling the plug-in, using debug and nothing has worked so far.
I can't say I've had that problem - both my Calibre instance and FanFicFare plugin are up to date with the latest and I can still access FanFicFare on the bottom menu bar.
Maybe someone else has run into this issue? If anyone chimes in with a similar experience, I'll reblog it.
In the meantime, there's two places you can submit bug reports about this. For Calibre there's info here on how to send bug reports. For FanFicFare you can submit issues to the GitHub repo and check to see if anyone has reported anything similar. This could be an issue on Calibre's side with installing the plugin or otherwise getting into a persistent bad state or it could be an issue with the plugin itself, so submitting to both would probably be a good idea.
That said, if you haven't tried it with the portable version of Calibre yet and happen to have a spare USB drive or SD card sitting around, that might be worth checking out.
You could also give Ao3 Downloader a try. I haven't actually used it yet (I keep meaning to for comparative purposes, just haven't made time for it yet) but I've heard good things about it. There's also Fic Hub, which I have used before but it's been years (I found FanFicFare and didn't look back). So I don't know how well maintained it is anymore. It did a good job back when I used it last, but I think Ao3 Downloader might be the better option if only because you can see in the GitHub repo how recently it's been updated - and it seems to have been very recently updated.
Tough problems
"The two hardest problems in software engineering are: variable naming, cache invalidation, and catching off-by-one errors."
Being wrong
About fixing software defects, Steve McConnell says: "Before you make a change, be confident that it will work. Being wrong about a change should leave you astonished. It should cause self-doubt, personal reevaluation, and deep soul-searching." (Code Complete 2nd ed., p. 553)

Anyone else having problems with the EA app throwing an error so bad that it causes your PC to wake up from hibernation??
Happened to me twice now.
I accidentally gave myself the black spot
For reasons, I developed a mobile app that does a thousand things, and one of those things is that it puts a picture of cheese onto my home screen as a widget, and every time I tap it it randomly changes color. Having a virtual color changing cheese at your disposal is great fun and I can totally recommend it. However, I recently made a change to this app and in my distractedness failed to properly test everything. So here I was a few days later, when I wanted to show The Cheese™ to a new colleague, but instead of colorful dairy my phone instead gave me an ominous black circle in the middle of my screen. I had just recently watched "Muppets Treasure Island", so the notion of Robert Louis Stevenson's Black Spot was fresh in my mind. So it seemts that as a result of this bug that I created myself I am now doomed to be killed by pirates soon :/
