KAISAAAAAAAA!!!!
HELLOOOOOO MY LOVE!!!
Okay but WE NEED to talk about this, because, when they’re both alone, in the first few times after they’ve met, and they both know that there’s something simmering, quietly but loudly, and calming yet electrifying, all simultaneously, between them, it’s the most grounding yet soaring feeling.
There’s all these words that Mikael wants to say, but can’t quite string together coherently, whenever he finds himself alone with Yousef. Usually, Mikael can talk and talk and talk. Give him a topic, and it’s more than likely that he’ll have knowledge about it, and it’s convincing enough to win anyone ever, with his added little extra charm that just naturally flows in, a strategic smile placed here, a delayed pause and a raised eyebrow placed there - he can talk anyone over.
But then he’s alone with Yousef. And he KNOWS what he wants to say. He’ll want to praise Yousef’s performance in his last football match, or talk about that “extraordinary goal” he scored, or how his outfit looks tremendously good today. Of course there’s loads more other things he’d like to tell Yousef - like how warm the colour of his eyes are, and how endearing his smile is, how much he likes him - but he keeps those things inside of him, for now; when the time’s right, he’ll tell them to him, too.
But for now, it’s just small little compliments that Mikael wants to give Yousef, but he trips over his own words and stumbles on them. They come out in the wrong order or there’s too many “urms” and “errs” and “uhms” that take over the words he wants to say. And then there’s Yousef, his smirk, his strategic little step forward he takes, closing the distance between them a little more, stepping right into Mikael’s personal space.
That doesn’t help, either.
But somehow, somehow, Yousef understands. He can decipher meaning from the mess of the words coming out from Mikael’s mouth, and he understands. He reads beyond them and gets what Mikael’s trying to say. And he whispers a small “Thank You”, just between them, in the small little area between them, and it falls on Mikael’s ears, making him smile, easing him again.
And just as Yousef passes by him to get to his next class, he strategically brushes his hand, hooking his fingers with Mikael’s, making Mikael look over his shoulder at Yousef, and Yousef’s walking away, but backwards, whilst facing Mikael.
And Yousef’s winking at Mikael, before turning around and taking the next left to his Maths class.
