Even huffs, only slightly amused, but mostly touched, and he leans forward to press his lips softly to Isak’s in a short but intimate kiss. When he pulls away, it’s only a couple of centimeters, and their noses are brushing when he says, “I love you, too.”

Isak nods. “I know,” he replies quietly. “That’s the best part. I know.”

Notes and ramblings:

Warning: tagged with both “major character death” and “happy ending”. Proceed at your own caution!

Without giving too much away (and mostly going off the summary itself), this is a sci-fi inspired fic detailing Even’s struggle in the aftermath of Isak’s death as he uncovers Isak’s research on time and begins to experience strange timeline shenanigans

As implied by the summary, the timeline is very disjunct but the tone of the fic and Even’s character arc throughout the entire thing manages to stay impressively consistent and natural feeling

Even’s character in particular feels so vibrant and alive in this fic, in his passion and his emotions and especially his love for Isak

The happy ending really is a happy ending, in my personal opinion, and the joy and relief Even feels in the ending scenes is almost tangible; just in general every emotion Even feels in this fic is one you will probably feel deeply, too

Ultimately this is a fic with a brilliant concept that is brilliantly executed, on a technical and on a viscerally emotional level; if you’re in the right headspace for something angsty and are in the mood to have your mind blown, this is the fic for you!
