Ellie didn’t expect to like him as much as she did, when he asked her out she agreed only because she was bored. Long conversations later she truly started to see what a great guy he was, they were having a good time and she didn’t want to end that date just yet. She turned around on her stomach looking at him with a smile. “Okay, I need to know something. Is this spot is a place you take all the girls to or should I feel special?” She laughed taking a sip out of her bottle curious how did he come up with the idea of a picnic in a place like this.

friday night was for people to relax and have some fun, grace wasn’t a social butterfly but she still agreed to go to that party with her friend. it was obvious she doesn’t fit in, most of kids were drinking, dancing, making out in the corners, and grace... grace wasn’t really interested in any of this. that’s why she found herself a spot by the pool where not many people were hanging out. with her feet in the water she was sitting down not expecting anyone to join her. but somehow he found her, probably as lonely as her, just looking for a place to sit away from drunk teenagers. they started talking, out of boredom for sure, but now, hours later she didn’t want the night to end. for the first time it felt nice to talk, open up to a complete stranger. he didn’t seem to be like all the other boys she has met before, the way he spoke, the way he was looking at her listening to whatever she had to say. it was weird... but definitely nice.
with her eyes on him moving her legs in the water she shrugged her shoulders thinking about the answer for his question. the whole conversation was based on them getting to know each other. he was asking his questions and grace was asking hers. simply as that, no judgment, just sharing life experiences and stories. “my biggest fear...” she repeated wondering if she wants to talk about it. “darkness. i hate being alone in the dark.” she said little embarrassed knowing how childish it probably sounded. “i always sleep with my night light on. i always carry a little flashlight.” giving him a smallest smile she moved her eyes to the water. “when it’s pitch black i feel scared, i start to make up things, i have anxiety, i think too much.” to make the story less depressing grace added. “i also hate clowns.” she joked smiling wider.
