#soft shance

Haha it reminds me of THIS PROMPT  (So it’s just barely pre-relationship)

But just imagine after that dinner with everyone, Shiro finds himself back in Lance’s room looking over his posters with a soft smile. He’s even got one signed, which means Shiro met him before all this but didn’t recognize him when they met again later. Lance is so wholesome and sweet keeping these old posters. A cute innocent fanboy.  And then Shiro finds…the calendar.

He doesn’t know how Lance got a hold of this. It was a joke thing he made with his friends when they first passed their pilots exams. Sexy up and coming pilots of the Galaxy Garrison. Shiro flushes with shame and embarrassment when he finds his picture in it. He was Mr. February. In an apron and boxers with cake batter all over the place. But there written on the page is Lance’s young handwriting. ‘I’d lick every drop from this god, not gonna lie’ and ‘patty cake patty cake baker’s MAN! <3’ and ‘Mr. Lance Shirogane has a nice ring to it, right?’ Plus there’s about a million hearts around his face and  other regions.

Lance spots him with the calendar and is MORTIFIED. He snatches it out of Shiro’s hands and rolls it up with a nervous laugh.

“Geez I…forgot I had that,” he says with his own blush of shame.

“Guess you were a big fan,” Shiro chuckles nervously.

“Y-Yeah but…uh…I’m not like that anymore, you know?”

“Like what?”

“A starstruck moron,” Lance shrugs. “I…really admired you as a pilot but I…well, you’re good looking. It was hard not to admire the outside just as much as the inside. I mean–stupid Lance! Why did you say that?!”

“It’s okay Lance,” Shiro smiles, still a little flushed. “How did you get that?”

“One of the cadets at the Garrison found it in his dorm in a closet. A whole box of them,” Lance tells him. “Guess someone never got around to selling them.”

They were supposed to be burned, Shiro remembers. They got in so much trouble for making them and the upper command ordered them incinerated so that they wouldn’t ruin the galaxy garrison’s sterling reputation. Shiro didn’t even keep one in case it came back to bite him in the ass.

“He sold it to me before he got caught with them. Then he was forced to shred them all,” Lance remembers. “Guess I’ve got the only surviving copy. Good thing too. It definitely helped me get through some rough–SHUT UP LANCE! OH MY GOD!”

Shiro laughs and laughs at a very flustered Lance who keeps wringing the calendar into a smaller and smaller tube in his nervousness.

“I sound like a freak don’t I? Admitting that I…used this to think about you,” Lance shakes his head in shame. “Sorry.”

“Don’t worry about it Lance,” Shiro tells him with a soft hand to his shoulder. “There are worse things than fantasizing about your idol.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah,” Shiro nods. “I wouldn’t be so hard on yourself. You’re not the only person in the world who’s fantasized about another.”

“You mean you did it too?” Lance asks curiously.

“Did? Still do,” Shiro admits with a flush to his cheeks. “You see there’s this amazing pilot. He’s younger than me but so skilled. I can’t help but admire his rapid progress as a pilot and as a person. Sometimes…I think about what it’d be like to be his special someone.”

“Oh yeah?” Lance starts to smile and sheepishly looks at the ground. “You…think he’s skilled?”

“At a lot more things than piloting, I’m sure,” Shiro winks and Lance grins. “Maybe one day…he can show me something new. And exciting.”

“I bet he’d like that,” Lance smiles up at him. “Maybe he’ll do that next Saturday…after dinner and a movie. Just the two of them.”

“Sounds like a date,” Shiro says and takes Lance’s hand in his.

The garrison grants Shiro with a spacious room aboard the atlas when traveling and a nice on-base apartment. Even though Lance already moved in it’s a little too roomy for them. The two consider adopting some pets!

Lance does his research and discovers that cats are great emotional support animals and help lower stress/anxiety, something he and Shiro both need after the war. Not to mention that Shiro absolutely loves cats!

For Shiro’s birthday Lance drives him to an adoption center that’s opened up. I imagine that there a lot of homeless pets post war. They find two kittens who are inseparable, one black and one white. They immediately fall in love and take the kittens home! :’) 

The kittens fall asleep on Shiro’s lap during the ride home and Shiro is so happy that he starts crying!! uwu

Lance and Shiro are very good at picking names. They decide to name the black cat Osiris, and the white cat Atlas. Their babies deserve some majestic sounding names!!! 

Shiro lets the kittens climb and chill on his bionic arm. He just sends his arm off to float around their place like a roomba.

One time Hunk lets himself into their apartment to drop off some dinner he made with Shay. He finds Shiro and Lance cuddled up on the bed with the cats sleeping between them! He makes sure to take a picture to send to Lance later. Also cause it’s super cute!!

Everyone somehow gets the idea that Shance have children. Maybe because Shiro or Lance would rush home, saying “Oh quiznack! I forgot to feed the children.” or “I need to go and put the kiddos to sleep!” Lance and Shiro subconsciously refer to the cats as their children and its adorable. 

It’s really hard for Shiro to get any work done at his office. Especially with Lance sitting on his lap and the cats cuddled up on his desk. 

Sometimes Keith visits the two. When Lance opens the door he immediately bypasses Lance’s hug and goes straight to the cats. Keith is super soft with them and he always greets them first, “Hey little ones! Your favorite uncle is here!”

Atlas is just like his dad and likes to randomly disappear. Lance frantically runs around the apartment yelling  “ ATLAS SHIROGANE! DON’T YOU DARE PULL A TAKASHI SHIROGANE ON ME SIR!” Turns out Atlas was with Shiro, the two chilling in his office. 

Osiris loves Lance the most because he pampers her all the time! Lance always sneaks her some treats while he’s cooking dinner. She gives Lance kitten eyes all the time and he’s too weak to say no.

Shiro catches Lance talking to the cats all the time!! One time Osiris ripped up a pillow and Lance is like “Excuse me ma’am! Do we need to have a discussion about this again?!” He’s also caught Lance serenading the cats and secretly saved it on video. (He watches it when he’s having a bad day)

Any time Shiro and Lance try to have some sexy times they don’t get far because of the scratching and meowing at the door, the children want the bed. Imagine Lance calling Hunk. “Hunk can you please babysit the kiddos tonight! Shiro and I are really horny!!!”

Lance tries so hard to keep a straight face during a meeting. It’s so hard with Atlas perched up on Shiro’s shoulder and Osiris playing with his bionic arm. Shiro eventually picks up both the cats and drops them on Lance’s lap so he can finish up.

Shiro has a family photo of him and Lance with the cats in their lap. He has a framed version of said photo on his desk and one on his phone. He loves showing off his family whenever anyone asks!  

Shiro walked into the kitchen to see his boyfriend steaming like a teapot over the stove.

“Hey, babe,” he said, moving behind Lance as he worked on breakfast and bringing a cold metal hand up under his shirt to calm him down. “What’s going on?”

Lance grumbled something mostly unintelligible, but Shiro could make out the name “Keith,” so he knew they must have had another fight.

“Don’t worry about Keith, I know you guys will work it out by the end of the day.”

“Maybe,” Lance grunted.

It only took a moment before he relaxed into Shiro’s hands rubbing soft circles into his hips, and he set aside his spatula as his eyes fell closed.

“Shiro…” he whined. “I’m trying to be upset here.”

“I can’t help it. You’re cute when you’re angry,” Shiro said, pressing a kiss in the crook of his boyfriend’s neck.

“No, I’m not.”

“You’re always cute.”

Shiro spun Lance around and pulled him close, placing a lingering kiss to the brunet’s lips as his smile grew.

“Feeling better?” Shiro asked, his hands fitting perfectly in the small of Lance’s back.

“Only if you kiss me again.”

“I can do that,” Shiro smiled.

Awwww!

They’re doing a tour around the house and Lance thinks nothing of it at first. Because there’s no way in all these years that his mother hasn’t gone into his room to tidy it up…right? Oh god if she hasn’t changed anything in there–

“Wait! Don’t go in there–!” Lance says far too late.

“Oh my god!” Pidge snorts with laughter and tugging on Keith. “Look! Look! There are so many!”

Poster upon posters. His mom never cleaned up or altered his room at all.

“Wow…that’s…more than I ever had in my room, and he practically raised me,” Keith says smirking at him.

“Got a little crush on Shiro the Hero there, Lance?” Hunk jokes.

“N-No! I just–I was–He was my role model!” Lance tries to defend, his voice shrill. “I just–I wanted to be like him! That’s all!”

“Then why does that one have hearts drawn on it?” Pidge giggles uncontrollably. “Oh man! Shiro! Come look at–Mmpff!”

“Shut up Pidge!” he shouts, covering her mouth.

“Is something the matter team?” Shiro asks coming down the hall.

Lance scrambles to close the bedroom door but he can’t do that and hold Pidge at the same time. Shiro reaches the door and sees what’s inside. A dozen Garrison recruitment posters, all of them featuring Shiro in his pilot’s outfit or his garrison uniform. Bright friendly smile telling people they could be the next great astronaut so ‘don’t give up’ and ‘join the galaxy garrison’.

“Didn’t know you were such a fan, Lance,” Shiro chuckles.

“Did you see the one with all the heart–mmpff!” Pidge gets muffled again by Lance.

“How about you all head down to the dining room? It’s time to eat,” Shiro smiles and gestures them down the hall. “Oh but, hang tight a minute Lance. Want to talk to you for a second.”

They all leave and it’s just the two of them alone. Shiro asks if he can come in? To his room? And Lance nods because it’s only a dream come true but also OH NO he’s gonna see the extent of this hero worship. Shiro walks about the room and looks at his books but mostly at the posters. He stops in front of one in particular and chuckles.

“I remember posing for this one,” Shiro smiles. “That was the day I was told I couldn’t go to Kerberos.”

“What?”

“Sansa said I was too much of a liability. Adam told me I had to choose between him and space. No one except one person thought I should go. I felt like…everyone had abandoned me,” Shiro says with a sad smile.

“But…you’re smiling so bright,” Lance says.

“You’ve never smiled when you were upset?” Shiro asks as he turns to look Lance over.

“Touche’,” Lance snorts. “But they let you go anyway.”

“They did. Now this one–” Shiro says and approaches another poster. It’s the one with hearts and Lance covers his face in shame. “–it was the first day I piloted a plane on my own. I couldn’t have been happier.”

“That’s the poster that…made me want to join the galaxy garrison,” Lance admits. “You were…my hero. I always wanted to meet you.”

“I can tell,” he chuckles, brushing a finger over the outline of the heart around his face. “Am I everything you ever hoped?”

“And then some,” Lance smiles, blush tinging his cheeks. “So uh…dinner’s ready?”

“It is,” Shiro nods and guides Lance out of his room with a warm hand on his shoulder. “Mind if I sit next to you? We can talk more. About that poster of yours,” he adds with a subtle wink.

“I’d…I’d like that,” Lance nods. “I’d like that a lot.”
