#soft plastics

I was running children’s activities this week. Unfortunately all of the resources provided to me came wrapped in plastic. So I set up 2 bags for waste - general and soft plastics. This full garbage bag of soft plastic went to recycling instead of the dumpster. Some parents needed prompting (and instruction) to separate their rubbish but the subtle reinforcement and education here is worth it.

Some of the activities this week were little grow pots with coir starter pellets and seeds (carrots and herbs). I took the opportunity to talk to the kids and families about the best way to start their seeds and care for them so that they can experience success. Many had never planted a seed in their lives and literally needed to be guided through the whole process to follow once they got home.
