#soft luke

The flames of the fire dance around in the small pit in front of you as your head leans against Luke’s shoulder. His full attention is set on the marshmallow at the other end of the stick in his hand. You watch as he carefully rotates it in an attempt to make “the perfect toasted marshmallow”.  He had already made (and eaten) three others by this point in the night, which were -in his words- all practice runs for your marshmallow. You chuckle to yourself as you feel his body lean forward, something he always does when he’s really concentrating, before pulling the treat away from the fire to inspect it. It’s entirely golden brown, and you have to admit you’re a bit surprised, considering his last three attempts had all ended with the marshmallow catching fire within a matter of seconds. He points the stick towards you, as you lift your head up to sneak a peek at the overly smug face you know he’s wearing.

“For you, my sweetness.” His face is glowing with pride and the light of the fire, as he leans in to give you a quick peck on the cheek.

“Oh, why thank you, Baby.” You say smiling back at the golden-haired boy.

As you begin carefully sliding the marshmallow off the stick, you’re met with a harsh wind that sends a chill to your bones. You think about the argument you had with yourself over whether you should bring a sweater to Luke’s before he picked you up and realize maybe you should have. Turning to Luke with your best puppy dog eyes, you begin to ask him for a hoodie but notice he’s already getting up.

“Yeah, yeah, I know.” He rolls his eyes and laughs, “I’ll go get you a hoodie. Enjoy your marshmallow.”

He plants another quick kiss on your forehead as he gets up, then heads off to the house.

As you sit in the warmth of the fire, you quickly devour the sweet treat as you think about how good Luke is to you. Smiling softly to yourself, you decide to join him in the house to wash away the remainder of your snack left on your hands.

Just as you turn the sink off and begin to dry your hands, you hear Luke call your name and ask you to join him in his room. Making your way to down the hall, you admire the many photos he has posted on his walls of the two of you, his family, and of course, Petunia, who you happen to find asleep on Luke’s bed as you enter his room. You look around at the familiar surroundings and find Luke standing next to his closet with his arms folded. He repeats your name with a stern voice.

“What?” You ask, fully confused.

“Where are all of my hoodies? Did you borrow literally every single one of my hoodies?” He says with an interrogator-esque quality to his voice that makes you want to laugh out loud.

You chew on your bottom lip, holding back a laugh as he stares at you.

“Well?” His eyebrows rise as he waits for a response.

“Okay fine.” You sigh and raise your hands just above your head, “I might have a few of your hoodies in my hamper… and I might have your blue one at work… oh and there’s the one on my bed… and I think there’s one in my car.” You think about it for a moment and realize he’s right. “So, there’s a strong possibility that I might have all of your hoodies… you should really look into buying some more.” You say, dropping your hands as you make your way over to sit with Petunia, scratching her head softly.

He scoffs in fake disbelief and shuts his closet door before heading over to you and sliding onto the bed to sit behind you. His arms snake around you, wrapping around your waist in a soft hug, before resting his head on your shoulder.

“Am I ever going to get any of those back or am I actually going to have to buy more?” He asks, already knowing what the answer will be.

You watch as Petunia rolls over onto her side as you begin to scratch her belly. She lets out a gratified sigh and you smile at the contentment you both feel.

“Well, of course I’ll bring them back! They won’t smell like you forever; they’ll need to be re-Lukeified” You say as your head leans softly against his.

“Re… what?” He laughs loudly at the ridiculous word.

“You know what I mean!” You stick out your tongue at him, elbowing his stomach lightly.

“Sadly, I do.” He chuckles as you go to elbow him again, this time a little harder.

He catches your elbow with his hand before you get the chance to connect it to his ribs and begins to tickle your side with the other. You squirm and yelp out, trying to break free from his hold. He lets go of your elbow and grips the other side of your waist, tickling you from both sides. You laugh loudly and plead for him to stop as you slide down the side of the bed, his grip loosens as you hit the floor.

Hearing his goofy laughter from behind you, you quickly scramble to your feet and launch yourself back onto his unprepared body, laying him flat onto the mattress, causing a winded gasp to cut off his laughter. You don’t hesitate to tickle him back, as Petunia hops off the bed, clearly not happy with the sudden burst of energy in the room. Luke’s laugh echoes against the bedroom walls as he fights back to stop you, his hands doing their best to catch yours. Eventually, he grabs hold of one of your wrists, then the other shortly after, and quickly uses them to pin you down on your back. He climbs overtop of you and sits on your waist as you stare up at him the two of you panting softly.

“Seriously?” You say breathlessly. “Luke, you’re like twice my size! Get off!”

You try to fight back, lifting your arms to no prevail, as Luke smirks above you.

“Promise me you’ll give me back some of my hoodies and I’ll let you go.” He says smugly.

You shift your body side to side in another attempt to break free, but he sinks deeper into your waist, adding more weight onto you, while shaking his head and tsking at you.

“Luke!” You groan loudly

“Is that a yes?” He asks, slightly tilting his head and raising his brows at you.

“Fine.” You let out a forfeiting sigh. “You can have some of your hoodies back. But only until they smell like you again… then they’re free game.”

“Okay, deal.” He laughs and shakes his head, leaning in and kissing you softly before carefully climbing off your waist and letting your wrists go.

You rub the skin of your wrists and stick your tongue out as you sit up next to him.

“You win this round” Your eyes narrowing at the blue eyed man looking back at you. “Next time you won’t get so lucky.”
