► OSTARA; The Spring Equinox - March 20th
The winds change, and so does the sun. Seasons come and go and bring more fortune to the ones blessed by the Goddess. The Ostara, is one of the eight annual celebrations held sacred by the witches, and it celebrates the return of Spring and Easter. During Ostara, it is encouraged to disseminate the peace, in order to keep your spirits high, so, every year, Moon Island tries to put their differences aside for a few days, and give its citizens something nice to celebrate, whether they were gifted with powers or not.
To the sons and daughters of the Goddess, this is time of renewal, of cleansing of their houses and themselves, by making potions, garlands, or simply fuming their houses while chanting to protective spells to keep the bad spirits and everything that have been weighting on their souls, out. Witches and warlocks are also encouraged to gift the ones they hold dear with cleansing herb bags, potions and candles, laced with protective enchantments of their own. The Spring Equinox is also a time known for fertility and sowing seeds, as nature’s fertility goes a little crazy, so, to the ones who grow an herb garden, this is the time to start getting the soil ready for late spring plantings. Celebrate the balance of light and dark as the sun begins to tip the scales, and the return of new growth is near. The Ostara is also a moment of control for both werewolves and vampires, giving them a peaceful moment and a night they will be able to be around humans without succumbing to the uncontrollable urge to hurt them, though not every single creature has the desire of following such peace.
In Moon Island, the citizens welcome Spring with a big, three-days festival held in the main square, where people gather around for some family-friendly activities such as the annual egg hunt, children can have their faces painted; there will be music, food tents, refreshment tents, a kissing booth, game tents, and the festivities will end each night with a movie in the park. All families are welcomed to join and, just like many other Moon Island activities, the money earned in this year’s festivities will go to charity.
