I actually read The Left Hand of Darkness recently, I've seen it recced around and I knew it was at my library and I saw your post and it was the last drop in the bucket so to speak. I really loved, it! I feel like the ability to write a book with both a very strong theme and at the same time have compelling characters is kind of rare and this book DEFINITELY had both. So thank you for sharing!
so glad you liked it!!! i read it for a gender & literature course awhile back and LOVED it, i’m surprised it doesn’t have a larger following tbh. so happy my post got you to read it too ahh. also i agree, the worldbuilding and themes are so strong and yet the characters and character relationships are what really made the book for me. just fantastic
Tohru wanting Kyou to let her help him, too.
Hey I was wondering you had any tips for introducing cats? My cat is constantly hissing at my foster cat even though a door separates them. I feed them on other sides of the door but I was wondering if you had any other pointers?
I tried to follow Jackson Galaxy’s method of introducing cats (link below). My cats don’t really get along so I’m not sure I’m the best person to ask! The biggest tip I can think of is provide lots of positive reinforcement with play and treats, and take things slow.
I'm gonna admit ppl have been asking for a reboot for ages so when I saw this blog I just saw a hopeless cause and yet here we are living in the good timeline
I’m ngl I thought I was working on a hopeless cause for a long time, too… Like, people have attempted to campaign for a reboot or second season before but it’s kind of famous that Takaya did NOT have a good time with the first anime. How was a blog and a twitter going to change her mind nearly 17 years later?? I don’t even think I did anything, I think it was just timing considering that the Yen Press editions are out and Fruits Basket Another is being released as well (volume 2 comes out in English tomorrow too lol).
We’re living in a Good and Merciful timeline indeed

Hey so I'm getting a 30 gallon tank and am planning on getting one dwarf gourami but can't find any info on exactly how many tank mates could join him. I'm thinking of cory cats but how many or would they even fit?
They can be a bit rude to each other so I wouldn’t do more than one, and a 30 gallon is the minimum for corys so you’d be good with that. I’d look at panda corys, they’re a smaller species, and you could get about 10 of them.

3. DNF With Prejudice: Book(s) you didn't finish on purpose
Sharp Teeth by Toby Barlow. The pacing and style just wasn't clicking with me :/
4. DNF With Regrets: Book(s) you didn't finish but want to get back to
The Unbroken by C. L. Clark. It was interesting but I fell into a reading slump midway through! And by the time I was out I felt I'd need to restart and I wasn't up to that right then.
5. Crowd Pleaser: Book you would recommend to almost anyone
Maybe The Raven Tower by Ann Leckie. Fun, not too challenging, especially as it's a take on a well-known story. Pretty good worldbuilding but not a huge learning curve (imo).
8. Blorbo Of The Year: Perhaps not your favorite of the year, but contains The Character
Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie. It's already one of the top books but Seivarden is blorbo of all time <3
10. Sleeper Hit: Not a book that you have to force into people's hands, but well-executed
Exordia by Seth Dickinson. Really good and I think for the right audience it's gonna check all the boxes. But I think I'll be okay chewing on it by myself if none of my friends pick it up.

6. Was there anything you meant to read, but never got to?
SOOOO many (the TBR is eternal) but I kept bumping The Genesis of Misery by Neon Yang down my priority list even though it really seems up my alley I just kept finding stuff that felt like I needed to read it sooner than this did lol (edit: saw it in your dnf ask after this so thats funny)
10. What was your favorite new release of the year?
The only new release I read was Lake of Souls lol so that! Though it really was quite good. The ImpRad stories were wonderful, LOVED The Snake's Wife, really liked the titular story.
11. What was your favorite book that has been out for a while, but you just now read?
I mean that is probably going to Ancillary Justice! It's been out for a little over 11 years now, and it definitely became one of my favorite books of all time. Honorable mention for me finally reading Left Hand of Darkness, it was quite good and has been out for quite a while.
