He will tell me that the land here has an elevation of zero, is even with sea level (an idea I will always struggle with) and so, the houses should be on pilings to protect from flooding.  I do not know if he knows that I know this, but I do know he will continue to preach the Gospel of the piling ad infinitum.  

Henry pulls his hand out of the Lawson’s nether regions and sifts through his catch- a few long dark hairs, lint, three pennies.  He puts the pennies in an interior pocket in his jacket and throws the rest back onto the sofa.

“This one is already pretty deteriorated.  Just take the usual notes,” he says.
