This meme uses the base template of a scene from The Simpsons (An old TV show/cartoon) where a character knows hes in danger and is panicking (on the inside) right before disaster happens. This plays off of the social issues of COVID-19 where suddenly, any cough/sneeze/etc is seen as a potential infection case but because its not confirmed, people still act “normal” around that person. 

This meme shows Rick from “Rick and Morty” pulling up the wallpaper to expose something behind it. There has been a lot of controversy about public figures, including President Trump, using language like “Chinese virus” to describe the Coronavirus. Some people don’t find this kind of phrasing dangerous or harmful to Asian American’s despite increasing numbers of racially motivated attacks against Asian Americans.

The Two Buttons Meme or "Daily Struggle" is a comic featuring a character attempting to push one of two red buttons with contradicting statements where one option is clearly better than the other, created by Jake Clark in 2014. Using this meme, I am satirizing the irrational distress of Generation Z, which I am a member of, over making the decision to social distance responsibly or party and possibly aid in the spread of COVID 19.

Class content meme: The “Art student owl” meme is a meme referencing struggles that those studying art commiserate over. In this case, I am using it to criticize the Kantian perspective for being based purely on formal analysis, and ignoring socially contextual reasons for why a piece may not be aesthetically pleasing. While there is a time and a place for the aesthetic analysis of art, within the class context of political disrupt, it is important to go beyond Kant’s view.

Though plagiarism is a problem almost everywhere, I bring it up in terms of fashion because many fast fashion companies (think mall and online fashion) steal designs from people of color (POC), ethnic traditions, and small businesses. I chose to highlight the small businesses because it encompasses the other two. These businesses are often POC owned and their designs are often taken without credit and replicated cheaply. It can even come down to a matter of appropriation. 

Here is my social meme. It uses the image of meme man with his typical misspelling of words. During such a time of crisis we are in such need of the ventilators, yet we are so set on large companies getting their way that we would believe that they would sue someone during such a time, but that was not the case. We must fact check everything, and get more ventilators of course. (Edit: has final meme)

I chose to hijack and recreate the peace by force meme that mocked Christianity for its methods of evangelizing.  The original meme played on a common theme that condemns a religion for political historical events. My hijacked version seeks to instead promote the true values of the religion when not tainted by political gain.
