Social Meme: The first meme is from a meme format known as theĀ āabsolutely barbaricā meme. This meme evolved from a way toĀ āroastā other users, into a way to make commentary on what is and is not acceptable. With COVID-19 passing through the world, the pressure for people to stay within their homes for the good of their community is higher than ever. Yet, some people continue to not follow stay-at-home orders despite an essential reason to leave. This meme criticizes those who will not partake in the necessary measures to flatten the curve.
Class content meme: TheĀ āArt student owlā meme is a meme referencing struggles that those studying art commiserate over. In this case, I am using it to criticize the Kantian perspective for being based purely on formal analysis, and ignoring socially contextual reasons for why a piece may not be aesthetically pleasing. While there is a time and a place for the aesthetic analysis of art, within the class context of political disrupt, it is important to go beyond Kantās view.
