Congrats to Caroline Shaw and Sō Percussion, who’ve won the Edison Klassiek Award in the Netherlands for Extraordinary Classic for their album Rectangles and Circumstance, which won the GRAMMY for Best Chamber Music / Small Ensemble Performance.
Composer Steve Reich stopped by for the Nonesuch Selects video series, in which artists visit the Nonesuch office, pick some of their favorite albums from the music library, and share a few words on their choices. He chose recordings by Kronos Quartet, John Adams, and Caroline Shaw & Sō Percussion, and from the Nonesuch Explorer Series in Bali and Ghana.
Congratulations to Ambrose Akinmusire and to Caroline Shaw and Sō Percussion, who have been nominated for Edison Jazz and Klassiek Awards in the Netherlands, respectively, for their latest Nonesuch albums: Akinmusire's honey from a winter stone for Jazz: International and Shaw and Sō's GRAMMY–winning Rectangles and Circumstance for Extraordinary Classic. Caroline Shaw and Sō Percussion were on BBC Radio 3's Saturday Morning ahead of their concerts at Barbican Centre in London last night and RNCM in Manchester tomorrow. They spoke with presenter Tom Service about their work together and performed "To Music," from their new album, Rectangles and Circumstance, and the title track to their 2021 album, Let the Soil Play Its Simple Part, live in the studio.
