Things that Happened Yesterday
1. I passed the ten-mile mark on yarn used for Geek Craft Expo.
2. Out of curiosity, I did a quick conversion to weight (based off Caron One Pound, which I have been using constantly), and discovered I’ve crocheted 21.7 pounds. Which is roughly the size of a small 18-month-old. I’ve crocheted a fucking toddler.
3. 12 tubes of super glue was not enough. I will need to order another dozen tubes to make sure I’m covered.
4. I feared I had overestimated my needed space by booking a corner table, which is an 8-foot table and a 6-foot table. I marked out an 8-foot table on the kitchen floor and started placing product. I’m gonna need to be smart about layout to fit everything. Because I DEFINITELY have enough product for 14 feet of table.
5. I finished all the yellow bits of the Barda helmets, which is how I know I need more superglue.
I’ve reached the patching portion of the program. Yep, I’m Spackling Rosie 😂
With lessons learned from last year’s garden issues my brother and I this winter came to the same conclusions.
1) raised beds to avoid bending
2) with mulch to keep the weeds down
3) on a surface that wont grow more damn weeds
He decided to start his on the deck in pots, and I ordered some metal bed kits from Vego Garden. They got here in mid June, when work was crazy, so I only just got the area leveled and covered with the black plastic we had around.
Now I need to figure out what goes where BEFORE the dirt goes in.
1) The beds are huge. four foot by six and a half. (1.2m by 1.8m).
2) I also got a round bed that looked small. It is three and a half feet across. (1m).
3) when we leveled the area it sunk about a foot in some places (15cm) so everything has to fit within that without any fudging on the edges. (at least until I can dig it out some more, which might be a next year project.)
4) most importantly, I want the huge arch they make between the two large beds at some point. That means the two beds need to be four and a half feet apart. (1.3m)
5) there is a huge rip in the plastic already and I’d rather have one of the beds over it.
After all of this fuss I went out and moved things until I liked it.
Photo of dark green metal garden beds in dappled light. They do not have much dirt in them. They are on black plastic that is wrinkled and held down with bricks every now and then. The black plastic is right up against a sparse metal fence with weeds and flowers growing through it. There is mowed grass and a pile of logs in the background on the same side of the fence as the beds. /end ID.

made a tasty hearty dinner. sauteed red potatoes, green onion, shallots, garlic, and bacon, all cooked in the bacon’s grease (i baked it first to cook it most of the way)
i probably should have cut my potatoes a little smaller, but i think this came out very well.
im going to be moving into my grandmas apartment! not very exciting but still going to be a pretty big change. im looking forward to decorating the room :) right now its occupied by some guy, but he is moving out soon so the room is going to be empty!! gonna bring my 2 small bookshelves... and buy plants bc that room actually gets sunlight haha... and put up all my art prints,,, ohh man :)))) too bad the apartment is still like a 1-2 hr commute from the school... at least i dont have to sell my car this way.
The mermaid and the "Let it Go Girl" (as my 4yo calls Elsa) collected all the candy, and I my partner and I are sneaking our favorites after bedtime. We earned it!
