The Devil looks a lot like Santa Claus.

It’s an ice gym. The first gym. I have a fire type and a pokemon with fighting moves. This should be easy, right?

Look at them. The four horsemen of the apocalypse. Bringers of death.

I start with Pickle. A few embers and this badge is mine. But that Pengliff survives ember pretty comfortably, and then hits me back with a Smack Down out of nowhere, which nearly OHKOs Pickle! I’m so freaked out by this surprise rock move that I panic and switch straight to Fallow. He takes down the Pengliff and then squares off against Cubzero. It takes out Fallow with a single Ice Fang. Poor Fallow ;_;

I can’t send Pickle back in, he’s barely alive still, so it has to be Peebee. Sand Attacks buy me breathing space to heal up Pickle and start wearing it down. I go through most my potions, but Peebee takes the win. My plan is to start doing the same thing to his last pokemon. Sand Attack a bunch, then switch to Pickle and end it.

I use Sand Attack. He sets up Snowy Terrain. I Sand Attack again: this is in the bag.

If any of you have played the orginal Gold and Silver games, you might remember the misery that is Whitney’s Miltank. Turns out, Snowy Terrain into Ice Ball is just as bad.

Peebee dies in one hit. One minute she’s there, the next she’s a red mist. I’m too afraid to commit to Pickle. If it can take out Peebee, whose defence was higher, what chance does one little billy goat stand? I just need to get some damage on it first. Fuel goes in next, and is dead before she can make a move. My spirits have tanked. In goes Shetland. She Tickles… and the Snome finally misses, leaving me an opening to bring in Pickle! A critical Ember and the monster is blown away.
