Escapism
Digging in and panicking about future in turn. Periodically coping by thinking about moving-- where we live now was selected because it was between my work and a job Rose no longer now. So now Clover and I have a long commute to work/school for no real reason. And the mid sized city we live in has very poorly rated schools. And our old, character-filled apartment is extremely expensive to heat. And we can't go on walks longer than 1 block from our door.
But-- the communities closer to where I work are more expensive, we currently have a very kind downstairs neighbor (crucial in our circumstances), and alI can find in the areas where I'm looking are multi-unit new-construction apartment buildings. I just can't picture us in a place like that. We've only ever lived in weird old places with scratched-up old floors.
