I’m very glad I did. It doesn’t matter which side you put on, this record is on fire. Equal parts Rocket from the Crypt and Andrew WK, this band of Colorado parents play fuzz-soaked big riffs with plenty of rock and roll swagger. I want to be these guys when I’m older. They play shows for the same reason I did (pre-covid) - fun nights and a change of scenery. Fronted by basic cable’s @benroy00 and featuring some scene veterans, this record is straight up stupid fun. Album closer ‘I’m Sorry I’m Not Sorry’ waxes poetic about the future while leaving you wanting more. This might end up a GP Top 10 of 2020 record. BTS: A shot from drum tracking day for Lightning Cult’s EP2: Ether Waves. It has been an honor to work with M.Marchant on both of the @lightningcultsound records to date. When I first heard the phone-recorded demos of his songs (which would become EP1: Burner), I heard the good magic and was thrilled he was asking me to bring it to life. I was fairly isolated at the time, having just finished extensive work on a hard-fought solo album, so a new collaboration, I thought, was not on my radar. Oh, but it was and I am so grateful it was.
