I feel like Severus is the most underrated character... like he watched the girl he loved get with his bully, they got married, had a kid, there was no evidence of him having a family, loved Harry because of Lily and had to pretend to hate him, had to conspire with the biggest villain in the world at the request of his only friend, had to kill that friend and in the end died and literally cried his memories to the son of his only love and the man he no doubt hated the most....

Not to mention that, as a wizard, he has the ability to remove any memories he doesn't want. But because he loved Lily forever he never did, he suffered in silence for his entire life because he could keep those few memories that make him happy. Like her giggling with her friends over some unknown joke, or the way that she smoothly tied back her hair in potions class, or the way that her eyes, which he would have to see in Harry every day, shone when she was with James, even if it wasn't with him, he could smile in knowing she was happy...
