Having received a Grip Frame Screw A for my birf'dy, I discovered, to my annoyance, that when fully seated (or even nearly-so, too many turns out for my liking) this item did not conform to the frame of the early New Model Super Blackhawk I've been nursing back to health. 99% of the time, single-actions are far less work to restore to condition than DA revolvers, to the point where I was exasperated to discover this, but soon made the damn thing fit with the careful application of abrasives to the tip of said screw (Mfg. is Numrich in this case, for future reference) until it no longer protruded into the frame window when snugged. I might Loctite this mother if it can't make it through 50 rounds without backing out. Snap-caps are in again, so the dog is nervous (maybe she knows better than I do), but this Long motherfucker is going to work one way or another. I like big-bore SAAs, and I'll make this fucker like me!

I went ahead and ever-so-softly deburr/polished the leading edge of the spontaneously-dragging locking-bolt with organic keratin (thumbnail) followed by wispy strokes with a rubberized “blade rust eraser” veryfine/frangible block that anyone who unintentionally self-harms, like a lot sharpens/cares for old blades/tools will have several of. There’s no way that this could potentially interfere with timing, as I reckon it, because of the direction of rotation and positive fashion in which the leede is engaged. Single-actions are so goddamned simple that I was able to be lazy and simply invert the pistol while doing this, duster that frame-pocket for good measure, and have no reason to so much as turn a screw! Please, however, continue to hope that I’ve somehow put it out of time badly enough that next range day, the fantastically-annoying Wheelgunblr blows a couple fingers off. We’re all hoping against hope.

Terrible potatophoto reveals new cylinder scribe lines on dry-fire on an as-new New Model Super Blackhawk, with no apparent modifications to the locking bolt, but only following repeated cylinder-removal and takedown. Wheelgunblr is well-aware that factory locking-bolts come unpolished and that Bill Ruger deliberately designed in a bit of an early bolt release to combat sharp near-cocks but, this being its first blued presentation-condition New Model, remains right pissed at the scoring (being primarily a DA S&W owner to begin with, and only a handful of those being blued, and only two new). Wheelgunblr will resist polishing that fucking bolt, though is less sure to turn the piece around as initially planned.
