just for u... I'm gonna share an exclusive Smidge doodle from when I was warming up :D

For your actual question!! I've mostly answered this for both Smidge (here) and Cupid (here) !! I talked about the first canon scenes they'd show up in! But I can give you the first scenes they have that happen because of them :3

Smidge: Smidge would pop up in between Winter Soldier and Civil War! (I guess this would be some kind of post-credits scene? Maybe some kind of comic, like the Civil War Prelude comic? Let's not worry about that too much). In my world of color, Smidge's first scene would be her running around the woods and having fun. She's a little lonely, but she's free at least... and then she comes across Bucky! Bucky isn't very talkative, but he doesn't seem afraid of Smidge, which is a win for her! So they hang out for a little. She feeds him, she talks his ear off, and they have fun! They probably skip stones together or something. It's very, like, peaceful. Bucky finds her weirdly comfortable to be around, and Smidge feels the same; she's happy to hang out with someone again.

The scene ends when Bucky leaves. But before he does, Smidge asks him to come back again sometime, she hasn't had a friend to talk to in a looong time, and he's really nice! :D

unsurprisingly, he does. and he does that for like a year :3

Cupid: hmm, I imagine her in the background of a lot of scenes and having little parts at the start of the show. So I thiiink the first IMPORTANT scene she'd have would be when her whole side plot starts! Her whole bit is that Alastor asks her to keep Vox busy for him; he doesn't need Vox trying to interfere with his Dubious Plans at the hotel. (plus he needs to show Vox how having a spy is DONE because what do u mean he sent PENTIOUS??? is he stupid) Cupid when she is a pawn in the psychosexual drama between a radio and a tv, dude fuck my chud life

So the way this looks in my mind is: Alastor pulls Cupid aside or visits her in the kitchen or something. And he's like, "Cupid, my dear! You remember what you said to me when we made our little deal all those years ago, don't you? I seem to have finally found a use for your talents after all." and then it immediately cuts to Cupid walking around town, complaining to herself with her ears pinned back.

"oh that guys fucking crazy! [doing a shitty Alastor impression] Oh, Cupid, go keep the media overlord busy and out of the hotel's hair! No, I won't tell you how to find him, do it yourself! You're a capable woman! What is that guy talking about? How am I supposed to find Vox?" and then she walks into a shitty cafe or something. And he's right in front of her. And her jaw falls off.

This scene is so clear in my mind. I've been wanting to make a comic for it, but I've been busy :p But yeah! That's Cupid's first Important/plot-relevant scene!

2. when in canon does your self insert come in? do you have a scene in mind for your entrance?

So!! Smidge comes in during the time gap between Winter Soldier and Civil War. I imagine that Bucky goes to New York since that's where he (and Steve) are from to try and find out more about himself, and then winds up in the woods where she lives, is enamored by her weird girl charm and how?? nice?? she is to him!! kicking off their relationship, and eventual romance <3 This would all be offscreen tho, though. The first time we'd see her In Canon/on screen would be in Civil War!!

I DOO HAVE A SCENE IN MIND FOR HER ENTRANCE!! :D ORIGINALLY I had imagined that Smidge and Bucky would separate after interacting over the course of a year, so that way Bucky could run off to Bucharest and be present there for the plot of Civil War without Smidge. SO I had originally planned for Smidge to show up in Civil War before the big airport fight scene. In my mind, it's like, Bucky brings up that he knows someone who could probably be useful (like what Sam does for Ant-Man), and then we cut to Smidge running around the forest. I picture her hunting a deer, and then Hawkeye shoots it, and she gets all annoyed about it because hey!! That was hers!! Hawkeye would then probably explain what's happening, and she'd JUMP at the chance to help Bucky out and see him again. I always imagined that when she saw Bucky again, she'd jump into his arms because she missed him so much hehe

LATELY THO, I've realized that I think Smidge is far too clingy (and worried about HIM bc why did he leave, why is he self isolating...) to just be okay with Bucky disappearing for a year and maybe never seeing him again? So I think she tracks him down to Romania, and after confronting him about some stuff (their feelings, him leaving, her going to find him yk), they end up living together. SO this would change how her first on screen apperance goes. I'm currently thinking that when Steve is looking through Buckys appartment he'd see a lot of pictures of Smidge or stuff around the apartment that is. Definitely not Buckys, and he's like ?? sort of showing her before she's on screen herself. She probably wouldn't appear until a little later in the film because she was off doing something else when Steve showed up at the apartment. I need to rewatch the film to figure out an exact placement, but it'd probably be after Bucky got arrested? OR MAYBE it'd be the same thing where Bucky asks Hawkeye to find her because "she can help" (he needs his emotional support dog bad), just now her existence was kind of foreshadowed by her stuff being in Buckys appartment? MUCH TO THINK ABOUT!!! I take this canon placement shit SERIOUSLY!!!!

5. does your self insert have any special powers or abilities?

YESSS :D Smidge has dog powers! She worked in a lab where she was monitoring and tending to hunting dogs that were being experimented on (on the record/what they told her, was some bullshit about creating a genetically perfect hunting dog, when in actuality they were trying to reverse engineer a kind of super soldier that was more obedient using dog DNA, since the biggest problem with Steve was that they couldn't control him :p) and was bit by one of the dogs. It was a horrible and traumatizing lab accident, but it also gave her dog powers so! Win some, you lose some!

SO! She has really good senses (well, smelling and hearing, her eyesight didn't get better), and I think she has some extra strength/stamina. She's got a prey drive that makes her feel really antsy if she doesn't do something about it, hence why she ended up living in the woods! She can be herself and hunt in peace, without worrying about hurting anyone. And also she's been othered all her life, so she feels like the only place she can be herself is alone in the woods :( until she meets Bucky ofc <3 She has fangs too!! Some of her old teeth fell out to make way for her fangs to grow in. Common Smidge Body Horror Moment

12. how would the fandom view your character?

OO THIS IS A REALLY FUN QUESTION!!! Everyone would love her because she's the most specialist girl in the world... /j

HONESTLYY considering how misogynistic Marvel/comics fans are, I fear people would find her annoying or overbearing >_< ALTERNATIVELY, I could so see people who don't understand her turning her into a manic pixie dream girl type character because she's literally a charming and delightful weird girl 😭

I'M BEING SILLY, I THINK PEOPLE WOULD REALLY LIKE HER OVERALL!!! She's fun, and a lot of people I've talked to really like her and her lore so!! I'm sure if she were real, the fandom would also adore her too!! I hope that at least people would appreciate what she adds to Bucky as a character and the way her presence enhances the story and themes :] Considering how popular Thunderbolts was, I feel like people would have fun with her and write her doing fun stuff with Team Cap/the Thunderbolts. She's a dog girl, guys, come on, the jokes write themselves. Alexei can throw her a stick.
