I wanted to make a bastard capitalist that was actually likable. It’s debatable if that’s a success yet, but he’s partially a bottom-up design; I wanted to play with his Patron, the Currency Conspiracy, but his patron is unquestionably evil. So how do I justify making him a good guy?
make a dude that still believes in the power of money being used for good (and also one unaware of the Conspiracy’s true goals). him being an Amberdale came naturally b/c that family breeds all kinds of fucked up people who sometimes try to do good with the remnants of Great Granddad’s legacy, and Kay decided that occultism and dabbling with outsiders was way more dangerous than just turning the Baron’s fortune into a force for good.
Also, I wanted to play a silver-tongued salesman type that wasn’t evil. I have a few Charisma-based chatterboxes who like getting into and out of trouble with words alone, but none of them were good people until Kay kayme along.
his actual looks came from a few things: The wave of mouth-masked characters that followed in the wake of K/DA Akali, all the cool coin-tricks he does are from stuff I see people do in games and irl, tired + baggy clothes is just inspired by my general mood and demand for comfy.
