This knife went to college.
Smart knife
What it is: This knife isn’t just for slicing. This is a smart knife, a knife that informs you about the state of your food when you cut it. It gives you basic information about freshness, bacteria and nutrition. It also contains negative ions which can block decomposition and maintain freshness. This knife nicely connects to the transparency trend, since (via a sensor and a smart screen) you’re informed about everything you need to know and there’ll be no question about whether or not your food is safe to eat.Â
Why it is cool: This way you’ll get to know different aspects of your food-intake in a very specific manner and in a very simple way. A knife is something you were going to use anyway, so it’s not a hassle, which is good because it shouldn’t be. You should be able to know if your food is safe quickly and easily because it’s very important. What's also cool is that knowing the details of your food-intake by using this knife enhances your quality of life. It effects your material wellbeing (since by possessing this knife you get to know the details about your meals = security!) and possibly your physical wellbeing (because the smart knife will tell you if something is bad or good for you, and that influences your ingestion of said food item, your health might benefit).
Why it has future growth potential: People like to accomplish things without too much effort. Also, we’re always really curious about nutritional values and a bit anxious about expiration dates (which can lead to food waste). But no need to worry, the smart knife counts your calories for you, tells you if it’s good or bad, and that all by doing a simple hand gesture. Receiving this much information with that much ease is a brilliant thing, and I think this will really catch on.
