See I was thinking about this in the shower and I think the point of Frisk is that they’re meant to be whatever the player character wants them to be. Player wants them to be female? They’re female. Male? Sure. Non-binary? Totally.
yeah they’re definitely supposed to be a blank slate for the player! I’m almost certain Toby Fox used non-gendered writing so there wouldn’t be any gender-selection screen like in a lot of RPGs, so they could truly be any gender the player wanted. But my personal headcanon is that they’re nonbinary - I really enjoy how much the fandom has taken hold of that, since it’s so rare to get any nonbinary characters in anything.

Did you guys get the hurricane or…?
There were a bunch of existing rainstorms (we’ve been getting rain on a daily basis since about September 21st), and then the hurricane brought a lot of extra rain. It didn’t actually hit here, so there’s not so much wind damage, but there’s been TON of flooding - some of the small dams have collapsed and washed away roads.

I feel like AI at that sort of level would be too unpredictable for the laws to work. Plus a lot of them contradict themselves.
Yeah if you want to make any kind of AI that could genuinely pass the Turing Test, it couldn’t be three laws compliant because they are so antithetical to how humans actually behave. But in order for the three laws to actually work, the robot has to be conscious on a humanoid level - it has to have a sense of self, an awareness of danger to itself and how to escape it, recognition of orders in multiple formats, awareness of others, ability to determine who is human and who isn’t, awareness of harm in multiple forms, ability to intuit whether harm will come to someone in the future, recognition of responsibility - robots like Roombas or NAOs or Beams or any of the multitude of industrial or scientific or military robots don’t have the processing capability to do all that. And once you’ve programmed all that in, you’ve got something that acts a lot more human than anything we have today.
Plus, with just the three laws as they are, there’s a lot of room for stuff like telling a robot to destroy itself (which it would have to do, since the second law overrides the third). The first and second laws in particular are worryingly general - like, what constitutes harm? And what constitutes inaction? And creating robots that have to obey all orders regardless of their programmed function or the person giving them is not a good idea.

I’m still having trouble telling the parts of the post apart. Time to go hunt for Stylish extensions to fix this!
