Sheldon is showing some real personal growth. He is much better at showing emotion and he no longer sees it as a weakness. I think this is the first time I've seen him genuinely hurt without it leading to some kind of joke.

and the part where Penny dismisses his emotions and he stands up to her was amazing because it shows us that even people who don't seem affected by other people's opinions can be and that just because something doesn't seem like a big deal to us doesn't mean it's not a big deal to someone else.
