Small class; Do you think does it work for students?
More than ever, schools promote small class sizes; in my hometown, the prefectural governor decided to reduce the size of classes (about 10 students) in elementary schools. I agree with this movement because this encourages student’s academic performance overall.
First, it is comfortable for students to express their ideas in the small class. There are few students in the class, so students do not have to hesitate to speak their opinions. When I was a high school student, there were only 9 people in the class. Compared to the large class, it was easy for me to talk in the class. In a large class, I hesitated to ask a question for the teacher, but in the small class, I became able to speak up my opinion gradually. Likewise, reducing the size of class makes students join the class more positively. This means the communication between students and teachers is encouraged.
Second, making the size of class small is beneficial for discussion. These days, it has become important for students to communicate with others. In small classes, separating groups is easier than large classes. Additionally, the groups should be composed of fewer people, so students are comfortable to cooperate with other students. For example, I had plenty of opportunities to have discussions when I was in the small class. It was fresh for me to exchange ideas with other students, and I enjoyed it. As a result, reducing the size of class is eligible for discussion activity, which is significant for students to improve their skills of expression.
Finally, students can get their individual attention from teachers. Because there are few people in the class, teachers are easy to understand about student’s weaknesses and strengths. When I was a high school student, my teachers recognized me, so they gave useful advice for my academic performance. For example, my teachers noticed I had strength for making art, so they encouraged me to draw things for the presentation and studying. Therefore, students can get attention from teachers in the small class, and teacher’s advice helps student’s learning.
In conclusion, I think reducing the size of class is essential because students can improve learning and their skills, so students can enjoy learning more.
ah, an unusually small class, it seems -🎩
