What’s one small change you’ve made in 2025 that has had the most positive impact on your life?
Thank your for the ask @cattyfantastic! It took me a minute to figure this one out. I have made a lot of big changes this year but a small one that has made a really positive impact is that I've started journaling (by hand) more. Or more regularly I should say. I used to only journal when I had something profound to say or something pretty to create. Now I write anything and everything: quotes, music lyrics, rambling stream-of-consciousness stuff, mundane plans and instructions, notes to self, etc. Not only am I enjoying the process, but my handwriting is improving. I don't get the thoughts down as fast by hand as I do when typing, but that's a good thing. Slowing my thinking down means I process things better and come up with actual solutions. Funny how that works. ;-)
I'd sell your heart to the junk-man baby for a buck, for a buck If you're looking for someone To pull you out of that ditch You're out of luck, you're out of luck The ship is sinking, the ship is sinking, the ship is sinking There's a leak, there's a leak In the boiler room The poor, the lame, the blind Who are the ones left in charge? Killers, thieves and Lawyers God's away, God's away, God's away On Business, business

Queer reads: Roan Parrish
Okay, so Roan Parrish also got a post last year, but I’ve read more of their books, so here we go again.Â
I reread the Middle of Somewhere series, but this time on audio. Great narrators. Highly recommend. This series follows a professor from Philly (book 1), his closeted, anxious, asshole brother (book 2), and the kid who moved to NYC for college and the emotionally unavailable hot guy he wants to fuck real bad (book 3).Â
I read newly two series: the Small Change duology (+plus the best named short story ever) and the Riven trilogy. The Small Change books take place after the Middle of Somewhere books, and characters overlap. Small Change is a MF book, with the bset bisexual tattoo artist fmc, and the sweetest sandwich-making fella. The second book is MM, about Sandwhich-guy’s brother, and he’s a hot fucking mess.Â
The Riven trilogy takes place in NY, and is probably before the Middle of Somewhere books? They’re about rockstars, addition, mental health issues, and the trials of being seen. I think they might be my favorite books ever. Seriously, everything Roan Parrish has written is fantastic, so whichever one I’ve read recently is my favorite, but the Riven books are really, really good.Â
Parrish’s books are romantic, but they’re also serious, full of things like mental health issues, addition, fucked up family dynamics, and hard won HEAs. The writing is top notch, the character have fantastic chemistry, someone usually learns that feelings are not the absolute worst thing in the world, and the spice is hot.Â
Remember folks, read queer all year.Â
