Conducted a social experiment today. Wanted to see how people would react to me wearing a very short pair of high waisted shorts. I got a cornucopia of compliments. "You look cute today!" "Yaassss girl, work". Very encouraging and refreshing comments. But of course, there's always that one ignorant peasant: "you are asking to get harassed". Ha. Yeah, someone told me that today. No one asks to get harassed. No one should have to change the way they dress or compromise what they want to wear in order to not be harassed. Its not secret that I have legs, so why should I not be allowed to show them? Stop oversexualizing things. I am a human being, not a piece of meat. We are in the year 2014 and we need to get out of the mindset that what you wear constitutes to sex, because realistically speaking I could have been wearing a Snuggie and Crocs and still got hit on. Its 75 degrees out. Stop making me have to compromise my comfort because you are a disgusting, misogynistic asshole. So please, let's put an end to this. If I wear shorts again tomorrow, just compliment my outfit. Don't call me a slut, don't say I'm destined for rape or pregnancy. #Slutshaming #slutshamingiswrong #oversexualizing #notaskingforit #nooneasksforit
