BOOM
Screams and cries for help echoed through the area. Ash and smoke fill the air around the recently burned warehouse by the docks. What is left of it is rubble and dust.
You stood among the ruins as your controlled explosions continued to go off behind you, your silhouette outlined by the fire behind you, revealing a man with an atomic bomb for a head, bomb fuses covering your arms like sleeves, and a long apron covered in sticks of dynamite. You look around, admiring the scene you had caused.
Staff members and workers run away from the explosion site, crying for help in hopes of heroes coming to their rescue. You raise your hand, pointing your index finger towards an empty warehouse.
“Bang.”
BOOM
Another massive explosion rips through the warehouse, sending debris and chunks of concrete flying into the air before crashing to the ground and shattering. Black smoke filled the air once again.
You knew the risk of destroying buildings. You knew the risk of putting innocent civilians in danger. You knew the risk of living a life of a dangerous villain. That the heroes of SDN may eventually get to you. That you may get caught by them and get turned in. That you may be held in prison for many years to atone for your actions. But none of that bothered you. The risks mean nothing in comparison to the reward.
FWOOSH-
A bright flash of fire flies through the sky, cutting through your explosion-caused smoke, before landing in front of you. A man appears before you, his silhouette covered by raging fire.
You didn’t want to hurt civilians, you didn’t want credit or fame for the villainous destruction you caused to buildings. What you wanted was…
“What do you want, bomb bitch boy?” The man covered in flames spoke to you. His tone was laced with annoyance rather than rage, as if he wasn’t bothered at all by the chaos you created, but rather the time taken out of his day to deal with a villain on the loose.
His fire quickly dissipated, revealing a man with long brown hair wearing a skin-tight super suit, its V-cut going as low as his lower abdomen. The superhero who can control the fire and the flame. Flambae.
You felt butterflies in your stomach at the sight of him. You wanted to look at him forever. And oh, how you wanted him to look at you the same way.
“Hey, I’m talking to you, bitch. Or is your big, bomb brain of yours too stupid to understand basic english?” Angry flames ignite on his hands as a threat, readying himself for the fight to come, before a small squeaky noise comes out from his earpiece.
“Flambae, what the fuck are you doing? This isn’t a one-man job. You can’t defeat this villain on your own. Wait for backup, that’s an order!” his dispatcher orders him through the device.
“Shut up, bitch boy, I can handle this fucker myself.” He answers, his face is full of annoyance, likely from being underestimated by his own team’s dispatcher. “Well then, where fucking were we?”
You chuckle at his remarks. “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this.” Your heart pounds from anticipation and adrenaline. Then-
You make the first move, setting off explosives at your feet to launch yourself towards the man at intense speed. Your hand is outstretched as you point a finger at him, ready to send an explosive attack his way. He dodges swiftly, managing to avoid the attack by a hair. The explosion sets off behind him, causing rubble to fly across the harbour.
He quickly gains his footing, retaliating against the attack with a burst of fire from his fists. The fire hits you, and a large burn paints your skin. Flambae smirks, but the wound quickly regenerates, the skin building itself back. Within seconds, it was as it the burn was never there.
Flambae huffs, shocked that his attack couldn’t even leave a scratch on you. He raised his hands, ready to strike another attack on you. But you were faster, landing a square punch right at his face.
He stumbles back a little, warm, red blood trickles down his nose. He launches another attack at you, only for the wound to regenerate.
The exchange between you two continued; he would fire an attack that barely phased you, while he avoided getting hit by your explosions by a hair. The fight continued like this for a while, long enough for all the civilians to evacuate safely.
Flambae huffs, his breath short and staggered from the exhaustion brought from constantly dodging your attacks, “huff, you, huff, mother fucker...” He quickly ignites into a flamboyantly bright fire, flying towards you with the intent to finish the fight in one single attack.
You bring your arms out in front of you before his attack landed, swiftly redirecting his attack to the floor rather than yourself. The ground underneath you shatters, pieces of debris fly around you as his flames warmly lick at your skin.
Flambae quickly recovers, standing up straight and bringing his hands in front of him in a fist-fight posture. “Why you LITTLE-” He steps closer, bringing his fist up to launch another punch towards you. However, you were faster-
Your hybrid-form head melts to reveal your normal, human face. You grab his super suit by its collar, dragging him closer to you as your lips crash into one another. It was passionate, heated, yearned for.
You brought your hands up, cupping one around his cheek and the other around his shoulder. His body relaxes, and he slowly melts into the kiss. You try to pull back, but he chases for more, deepening the kiss.
When you both separate, you’re out of breath. A bright red blush paints Flambae’s cheeks and ears. You wish you could stare at it forever.
Flambae’s eyes looked dazed and unfocused, still trying to process what had just happened. Did he just make out with a supervillain?? He wanted to punch himself for letting his guard down like this. He was supposed to be fighting super villains with his fists and fire, not with his lips!!
He stopped thinking for a second, instinctively leaning forward towards you; he wanted to feel your lips on his once more. His hand held up, ready to feel the skin of your face in his hand.
Before he could register what was happening, your hand quickly wraps around his neck, squeezing a pressure point that causes his body to freeze. His body lay limp in your arms before he could kiss you again.
“What the…” He said dazedly, looking around to find a clue as to what had caused him to lose feeling in his limbs. You brush stray strands of hair from his face as you set him down, but not before leaving another kiss on his cheek.
“Well, that was fun, pretty boy” You turn your heel to walk away from the scene. “Until next time~” You blow a kiss at him, winking as you do so.
Flambae’s eyes widen with shock. Were you just going to leave him like that? “Wait- fuck- what??” He tries to move his arm. It doesn’t budge. “You’re- Where are you going?? FUCK- Get back here, you fucker!”
The sun begins to rise, the morning light slowly illuminating the now-destroyed harbour. You look back over your shoulder, “Don’t worry about it, hot-stuff! It’s not permanent.” You chuckle, waving at him before causing an explosion at your feet, quickly fleeing the scene.
“Flambae, FLAMBAE, I need a status report now!” Robert yells at him through the comms, “Where’s the bomb devil? Did you manage to get him?”
Flambae groans in reply, “No, bitch. The fucker got me…” This earns a loud, disappointed sigh from the dispatcher. “Hold on, Flambae, I’m sending in Sonar to come pick you up. You'd better expect a long-ass lecture with Blazer and me when you get back.”
“Fuck you.”
There Flambae lies. Motionless on the ground, out of breath, clothes ripped and covered in bruises and scratches, waiting for his team to pick him up. But man, has he never felt better.

Warning: Average Invisigal type flirting, a bit of swearing, descriptions of injuries but nothing bad

It goes without saying that being a hero at SDN means getting injured regularly. Whether you were dispatched on a mission to take out a gang of redring members or helping a cat out of a tree, danger was always lurking around the corner for the heroes.
Luckily for you, you worked at SDN as a dispatcher, leaving you in the nice and safe comfort of the SDN office building. Danger was rarely lurking around the corner for you.
You were grateful for your secure job as an SDN dispatcher; you were glad you could help out civilians while staying in the comfort of your own personal space. But seeing heroes come back from missions always made your heart tinge a little. Some would come back with scratches and bruises, while others would come back with broken and fractured bones. You never failed to flinch at the blood leaking down some of their open wounds as the injured heroes made their way to SND’s infirmary.
Today was the same as your other days on the job; you sat in your office cubicle as you watched heroes go in and out of the building. You worked with your team, dispatching them throughout the city to complete missions as you guided them through comms.
It was sometime during the first shift when you spotted a woman with short black hair and a bright pink jacket walking into the building from across the room. You could see that her face was covered in injuries, ranging from shallow cuts to dark purple bruises.
“Oof… That’s gotta hurt.” You cringe a little at her wounds.
While you were observing each wound on her face, she looks over at your direction. Your eyes meet for a brief second before you quickly looked away. Awkward…
You didn’t want to make anything weird, opting to focus on your own work. You busy yourself with finishing your paperwork to hopefully make you feel less embarrassed of getting caught staring…

It usually gets quite crowded in the break room, so you often just take your break at your own desk, far from all the commotion going on in there.
You were happily eating your home-cooked lunch when you heard shuffling footsteps approaching you. It sounded like heavy boots on the carpeted ground, but you couldn’t see anyone.
“Hey~”
“Ah-!”
You jump from your seat, startled by the sudden presence of another. You quickly turn around to see who the person was, ready to scold them for startling you so hard.
It was the woman you saw earlier. She was leaning on the wall of your cubicle, with almost a seductive look in her eye.
Her face was covered with bandages, looks like she managed to get cleaned up in the medbay earlier. Your eyes glided across her face, countless bruises and small scratches painted her tanned skin, some injuries darker than others.
“Uh, hey?” You replied, honestly you weren’t sure how to answer her.
She just looks at you dazed, almost like she wasn’t expecting you to reply? It looked like she was thinking really hard of what to say next. You tilt your head in confusion, patiently waiting to hear what she has to say.
After a few moments of awkward silence, she finally opened her mouth to say something.
“Hey, girl. Did you fall from heaven? Cuz… I eat ass.”
“....Uhh… thank you?”
“Heh, no prob-”
Blood splurted out of her nose. Dripping all over her pink jacket and the bandages covering her face.
“O-oh shit, uhm, sorry- gotta go-”
The woman quickly vanished into thin air, disappearing as quickly as she came and leaving you in a complete daze of confusion. You would have thought her powers were something related to teleportation, if not for the drips of red blood staining the carpetted floors.

The next day, you found yourself looking at a folded sheet of paper with placed on your desk. You hesitantly picked up the note, opening the paper to reveal a scribble of what looks to be a phone number written on it.
Underneath the number was a short message: hit me up?
You sigh, putting the paper to the side of your desk. You looked at the paper again before reaching for your phone.

It’s been over a week since the incident, and Flambae couldn’t stop thinking about you. It frustrated him so much. The way he could only dodge your attacks by a hair. The way your skin remained flawless even after receiving the raging fire attacks from Flambae.
The way you were able to pull him so easily into a kiss. He brushed his fingers on his lips when recalling the moment. And the way he yearned for it to happen again. A small amount of steam left the skin on his shoulders and neck. He rubbed his face with his hand, hoping to hide the redness from the growing blush.
“Boy, what are you thinking about?” Prism called out. She sat across from him at the break room’s table. Her thumb stopped scrolling through her TikTok page as she eyed Flambae through her glasses. “And don’t you fucking give me the ‘it's nothing’ bullshit, I see right through you, bitch.” Her eyebrows raised.
Flambae could only groan in response, pressing the palms of his hands onto his face. It was so foolish of him, he was an ex-super villain who is now a superhero working for the SDN. He’s a superhero now! He can’t be distracted by some villain on the streets.
But the ghost of your lips lingered on his.
“Hellooo, earth to Flambae. Boy, I should be asking WHO are you thinking about?” Flambae immediately snapped out of his trance, jumping out of his seat and slamming his hands on the table. Realising his sudden outburst, he immediately slumped back down onto the breakroom chair, absolutely defeated.
“Prism…” Flambae moaned out, his suffering was only met with hysterical laughter from the popstar. “BAHAHA!” Her hand slaps the plastic surface of the table, “Bitch, you down fucking baaaaad for this fucker.”
Once Prism calmed down, she leaned forward, eyes full of intrigue as she interrogated her best friend. “So, who’s the lucky bastard? Spill. Everything.”
“So, remember the time Rob-rob dispatched me to handle the bomb villain?” Flambae started. He spent the next 15 minutes confessing everything that happened during the encounter to his friend.
Once he stopped, he was slightly out of breath from how much he spoke in a short amount of time. At some point in his speech, Prism put her phone down, paying full attention to her friend. “Baby, you know what I think about this?”
“I think you should meet him again, meet up with him, and tell him how you feel.” Flambae perked up, a ray of hope flashed in his eyes. A chance to see you again…
Determination filled him to his core. Yes, he thought, he will meet you again, and he’ll finally tell you how he feels. He paused. But the problem is where…?
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
You stood amongst the wreckage of the coastal warehouse you caused just over a week ago. Your hands were behind your back as you admired your surroundings. The sky was dark, illuminated by the moon and stars, and a faint radiance glowed from the streetlamps spared from your recent attack.
You were wearing your civilian clothing: a white, short-sleeved button-up shirt that was tucked into your black dress pants. A thin black ribbon was wrapped around the collar of your shirt and tied in a loose bow in the front.
The construction to rebuild and recover the destroyed warehouses had already started, and officials had blocked off the area from normal civilians. The atmosphere was peaceful.
Light footsteps could have come from behind. The air around you warms as the individual slowly makes their way towards you, before stopping a few meters away from you. You heard a deep sigh come from the man behind you, and you turn your head around to be met with Flambae- no, Chad.
The fiery superhero was not in his iconic flame-themed supersuit, but instead a white, short-sleeved quarter zip, obviously unzipped, and a pair of black denim jeans. The quarter zip shirt was on the shorter end, revealing the silver of skin on his stomach. His hair, oh his hair, was not in his usual low ponytail, but instead was draped across his shoulders.
“Hm, so this is where you’ve been.” He looked around the area, kicking away some rubble with each step he took.
Your eyes immediately light up at the sight of the man. “Took you long enough!” You chuckled, almost skipping with joy as you made your way towards him.
Chad scoffed in response, avoiding eye contact with you as you stood only a few inches away from him. “Tsk, did you actually wait here for over a week for me?” He crossed his arms over his chest. Poorly feigning annoyance as concern laced his tone. “What possessed you to even do something like this?”
“To always have the chance to see you again, that’s why!” Your smile grew wider at the blush growing on the man’s face. Chad turned his head away, flustered at your eagerness to see him; it almost makes him feel bad for not coming to see you sooner.
“So… wanna get drinks together? I know a good bar nearby that serves for both heroes and villains.” Chad said as he rubbed the back of his neck.
You smiled, “I would love to!”
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
You and Chad spent the next few minutes walking to the bar. You walked side by side, shoulders occasionally brushing against each other.
Your conversations with him on the way to the bar were mostly one-sided, with you making comments about anything that came to your mind while Chad remained silent, opting to listen to your voice rather than his own. The softness in his eyes whenever he looked at you was evident.
You eventually reached the bar, finding a table with two seats facing each other, and you both sat down.
The ambiance in the bar was friendly and welcoming. The dust particles floating in the air became visible under the lights above you, casting a soft, warm glow across the table. The chatter between other supers was soft, acting as a comfortable background ambiance as your conversation with Chad continued.
He looked at you with dilated eyes, his surroundings blurred as if nothing in the world mattered except for this very moment. His eyes drifted from your eyes, to your nose, your hair, the black collar on your neck, your lips.
“So, Flambae, what do you think about it?” You face him, your head resting on your propped-up elbow.
“Chad…” He says softly, you could have easily missed it if you hadn’t listened carefully enough. “My name, it’s Chad.”
You looked at him in disbelief, he told you his real name. “You can call me that, if you want- not that I care anyway.” he quickly brushed it off, turning his head to face a different direction, suddenly finding the blank wall to be incredibly interesting as he waited for your response.
“Well, Chad, I’m y/n, nice to meet you.” You jokingly held your hand out to Chad, offering him a handshake. He looks down at your outstretched hand and shakes it.
His grip on your hand was unsure; the way his fingers wrapped around your hand was strong and confident. His hands were warm, very warm. His skin was tough with calluses from the years of fighting. But they were nice, it felt nice.
You spent the next hour talking with Chad, sipping on your alcoholic drinks as you talked the night away. Eventually, after the hours you spent talking with Chad about various topics, you had grown bored with the atmosphere and wanted to change the scenery.
You sighed out loud, earning the full attention of Chad. “Let’s have a change in scenery, shall we?”
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
The walk was short, you found yourselves at the bottom of a tall billboard. “So Chad, why don’t you take me up there?” You say in a teasing tone.
Chad looked at you, tilting his head slightly in confusion. “Can’t you go up there yourself? You got powers too, no?”
“I’m a wanted supervillain, Chad” You huff in fake annoyance, “Plus, my powers are gonna make a massive explosion too!”
“So how are you thinking to get up there without your powers?” Chad asked.
You step closer into Chad’s personal space, wrapping your arms around his neck as you lean your body onto his. “You could carry me!”
Chad smiled, “Yeah, sure, why not?” You felt his muscular arms hook up from under your legs. One arm holds up the weight of your legs while the other is wrapped around your waist, holding you bridal style.
He activated his powers, flickering flames emitted from his shoulders and legs as he slowly flew up into the air.
You subconsciously leaned your head onto his chest, feeling the warmth seep from his body onto yours, the soft sound of his heart beating made your heart flutter. The world seemed to stop at his very moment.
The flight up onto the billboard was short, but it felt like an eternity. The intimacy shared between you two felt like a dream. Chad gently placed you down, his gentlemanly nature now completely contrasting with his fiery nature a week ago, it almost made you want to laugh.
You were both sitting comfortably on the edge of the billboard, the view of Los Angeles spread was mesmerizing. The bright lights from tall buildings and moving cars illuminated the scene, a sign to show that the city is never truly asleep.
The next few moments were just to admire the sight of the city. You took this moment as an opportunity to scoot closer to Chad and plopped yourself next to him. Your shoulders were pretty much touching.
No words were spoken in this moment, but you both knew.
You moved your hand to cup his cheek, you felt his stubble lightly prick at the skin of your palm, as well as the warmth from his skin due to his fire powers. He moved his hand towards your face, lightly brushing a few stray strands of hair from your face as he closed his eyes and brought himself closer to you.
You do the same, feeling a gravitation towards him, you leaned your face closer to his until you felt your lips gently collide.
The kiss wasn’t as passionate as the one from when you first met. It wasn’t as hungry or feverish, but instead intimate and tender. The kiss lasted only for a few seconds.
When you pulled apart, your reality felt hazed, the only thing you could think of was to feel Chad’s lips against yours again. Luckily, Chad was quick to agree.
He brought up his other hand, gently holding your face in his hands. He brought you forward, landing another quick kiss on your lips, your cheek, your nose, your head, and your lips again.
He pulled back, his face was bright red, his hair a bit messier than before, the mess likely coming from the kisses. He placed his arm around your shoulder, bringing you into his chest. He leaned his head down and rested it on yours, closing his eyes as he savoured this moment. You did the same, closing your eyes as you took in every detail of the moment.
You spent a few minutes like this, embracing each other as you both gazed at the still-bustling city.
Chad was the first one to speak up. “So, I don’t know about you- but I really don’t want to keep this as a one-time thing. Let’s… stay in contact?” He says sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.
