I am utterly obsessed with the Lost Boys as a concept. What if you spent your formative years more or less being raised by/as the playmate to a child older then you, and then about your age, and quite possibly a little younger than you.
And he had memory issues, and couldn't tell reality from pretend, and he tells you mothers are fickle and you have been or will be replaced and he sincerely means it as a warning, but he also tells you no harm is to come to the bird who stayed with her nest and eggs when it fell into the water, and he tells you fairy tales he hears from mothers' and nurses' mouths in nurseries when they put children to sleep that are so often about the absence of a mother and the bravery of a little girl who runs away from home (JM Barrie fucking loved Cinderella), and then he brings you a mother.
And you would sooner force her to stay than go back to living only with an immortal boy playmate but when you hear Peter isn't coming to London with the rest of you you can't fathom it. Peter? Not coming? But that's your captain, that's your father. That's Peter, and he's not even sad about it... (oh, yes he is).
no one ever makes content for this pairing. Idgaf here you go
I should’ve known I was trans from an early age because when my sister and I were in elementary school we both had a HUGE obsession with 1953 Peter Pan (which was probably also a sign we were autistic but that’s a story for another time), and whenever we’d pretend to be the characters she was always Wendy and I was always Peter. ALWAYS. And it wasn’t like she made me play him ‘cause she wanted to be one of the few girl characters—I chose this. Every time. Every. Single. Time.
It’s astounding how long it took for me to realize I was nonbinary when the funky little fairy boy was my childhood.
(I also hyperfixated for years on Slightly and in retrospect I’m pretty sure it’s because he gave me immense gender envy and I just didn’t know what that was yet)
posting this on my main because my sideblog NEVER gets put in the Peter Pan tags for some reason and I want Reach
if you want to talk to me about Peter Pan, send asks to @slightlys0iled, not here
I'm currently scripting a video essay about the official Peter Pan sequel, Peter Pan in Scarlet by Geraldine McCaughrean, if anyone has any questions about this book I could seek to answer in my video, or perhaps you have some rare knowledge about PPIS, please go contact that blog, please!

In Peter Pan adaptations, do writers completely miss the joke with slightly's name in the novel?
Slightly tells the audience that Peter found him in a bag labeled slightly soiled. So Slightly/Peter thought that was his name.
it's funny because the joke is that Slightly thinks his parents put his name on a bag in case he got lost.
Even the Peter Pan 2003 movie seems to think it's his actual birth name.
I was gonna do something serious but then I watched a vine comp
