#slightly questionable

The Ghost and Molly McGee is such an interesting show to me because so many children’s shows will have their main message be “the power of friendship” or “love conquers all.” In most cases, this is a very surface level statement, and they don’t tend to explore conflict within that worldview. They’re children’s shows, after all. They don’t want to provide complex moral questions. That confuses their viewers. However, this show, this CHILDREN’S SHOW outright SAID that the real villain is a lack of empathy. They said that capitalism and the people who put their own wealth over other people’s lives are the problem. They said that ignorance leads to bigotry. They said that living in a bubble of your own privilege will only serve to hurt other people. All of this, when so many shows with similar basic messages and the same target audience are too scared to say those things. I think we need more shows like this.
