Where-abouts: The Sliabh people are situated upon the rolling hills of Talmslán. It's been their haven for a few hundred years now. Before they used to be dotted across the more fertile flat lands, but they were too close to the Bahn Marbh's territory; a clan of blood thirsty, sadistic monsters.  Talmslán is separated from the rest of Thyphos for roughly 3/4's of the year by a large river. The dry season is the only time carts can safely get across. Boats and other means would fail to get past the river as its current is too feirce. General culture:  Whilst the other clans may think lowly of the common Sliabh, their quality of life is generally better as their culture is socially farther ahead than the other clans. Education- Whilst the Lamené educate some of their own, the Sliabh clans carry a system closely resembling public schools. Education lasts till 14 (though, most drop out before this) and is ran by each village's respective elder. It started as a means of day care for the youth as both sexes work full time. These classes are tend to focus on life skills, but reading, writing and simple maths do come into it. Because of this, most Sliabh have a better grasp at literacy than ,say, Gavats, who view education as a pursuite for the rich and noble. Gender/sexuality- As the Sliabh have been victim to the other, more hostile clans for centuries, they grew a very strong interacial bond in order to survive. A bond which overpowers any negative views towards gender differences and homophobia. That said, part of their openess is because both sexes are such similar build. Regarding sexuality, though, Sliabh parents openly hold hopes atleast one of their children will be gay. Gay/lesbian Sliabh are often given the tasks of baby sitting or looking after the parents as they grow old, in return they will tend to inherit the house they were born, unless they decide to move to their partner's instead, then they give the home to a sibling. Most hetrosexual Sliabh have to move out and build their own homes when they intend to marry, because of this, most try to stay single as long as possible in order to avoid the long and tedius process of making a home. Religion/politics- The Sliabh long ago lost any clanleaders from soul destroying massacres from the Bahn Marbh clan, which openly targeted their leaders first in order to inflict as much fear as possible. Whilst the attack was a massive knock back to the Sliabh, it gave their kind an opportunity to develop a different way to run their clans. All the little groups within clans started to communicate with eachother and suddenly everyone had a valid opinion. As time grew, each sub- clan quickly got a respective 'head', but their positions became more flexible, something which could be alocated and switched, rather than a god-given right.  Every year or so, there's a big meeting at largest settlement where all elders get together to talk about crops and general complaints from the people, it's close to a government, only they don't actually do anything and it's really just an excuse for parents to match-make their children. In general, Sliabh life is pretty good. You work hard, drink hard and then die falling off a cliff during a drunken dare. Most will live happily this way forever, but some of the younger generation have started to seek bigger goals and foolishly venture out into the city with no money and no understanding of the harsh, closed-minded world they're about to get stuck in.
