Do you have any HCs regarding Slayn after the events of LOTV/Nova? Do any of the Tal'Darim still remain on the planet, and how does the planet itself change after Amon's extensive influence over it has been removed? Tangentially related but what new Homeworld do you think Alarak would choose as well? I find it interesting that Slayn was chosen considering it was a jungle world, almost like they were trying to find a planet similar to Aiur.
(sorry for the delay I was dealing with some personal issues + was prepping for irl exams)
Hmm for Canon I’d say Slayn is abandoned after LoTV, since the planet wasn’t mentioned in Nova and establishing a new homeworld pretty much means leaving the old one entirely. I do keep the Heroes of the Storm quote from Alarak Canon where the Tal’darim’s homeworld is "wherever [the Highlord] treads”; so all Tal’darim that still follow the chain of command either left with Alarak, or joined the Daelaam. However given the population, there might be a minor group of insurgents similar to Amon’s Champion still delusional about Amon that remain on Slayn.
But because Amon’s influence is removed, there won’t be terrazine coming up at night anymore. There won’t be people to maintain the buildings/structures, and with time natural erosion will take over. However Slayn does have a heavy amount of storms and tornadoes, this will damage natural habitats and harm the health of the land. I imagine Slayn wouldn’t be getting better anytime soon, but the planet’s status won’t overall become worse than it already was.
Leaving Slayn is both fitting and symbolic, since Slayn was a key part of their Religion of Amon; the Tal’darim transformed the world entirely to serve Amon e.g. erasing the natural environment and building the Pits; Slayn’s identity revolved entirely around the god. Which honestly makes sense that post-LotV Epilogue, it was abandoned.
I’d say there’s a couple reasons on why Slayn was picked in the first place:
The first Highlord really liked Slayn for personal reasons (the quote)
Amon gave the Highlord a sign to go to Slayn
Slayn was far away and practical enough for the Tal’darim to stay in hiding
What new Homeworld do you think Alarak would choose as well?
I feel like Alarak probably would choose a Homeworld out of practicality, given how Slayn used to be a jungle world (and has a lot of different biomes if you treat the Multiplayer Maps as Canon), he’d pick one with a mix of biomes to cultivate growth. Without Amon, the hierarchy honestly needs a full re-do. I imagine it stays mostly the same, though the ‘killing your superior to get a promotion’ is thrown out the window. Like jobs will be competitive like irl, but obviously no murder.
In my AU (this is still being drafted for LotV events), Nuroka recommends to Ma’lash (yes they both live) that they should start anew after Amon’s Fall, to which he also agrees and begins looking for a new homeworld. Here their new world would be called Future (it’s a bit corny, Ma’lash thought it was too straight forward but let Nuroka choose the name), and it’s mostly forests with lush oceans and a range of biomes like Slayn.
