Request: The 100 "The Fast and the Furious" AU with Linctavia focus. Lincoln as Dom and O as Letty, possibly Clarke as Brian? Or whatever you think would work best!
I am not good at writing about cars so I just avoided it like a champ
Since she was sixteen, Octavia Blake has wanted two things: to be a part of Lincolnâs crew, and to be Lincolnâs girlfriend. The first, as it turned out, was easier than the second; Lincoln was willing to consider anyone who could race and service a car for his crew, and Octavia excelled at both. She was working for him as a mechanic by nineteen and on the racing circuit by twenty-one. But he wasâand isâa good few years older than she is, and convincing her she was old enough and mature enough to date was harder than convincing him she could work for him.
âYou know this doesnât even make sense, right?â she demands.
âWhat doesnât?â he asks, mild.
Octaviaâs lying on the hood of a car in a sports bra and tiny skirt, ostensibly because itâs hot out, but mostly because she looks really good in the ensemble. âMy brother would way rather I dated you than raced for you.â
He lets out a small laugh. âAh, yes. The number one factor in all of my decisions: your brotherâs approval. His first choice would be that you didnât race for me or date me, so I donât know why youâre using him in your defense.â
âBecause he recognizes that racing is clearly a bigger issue.â
Thereâs a pause, and then Lincoln asks, âSo youâre telling me you want to date me instead of race?â
âNo!â she says, way too quickly, making him smile. âNo, no way. I just think itâs silly to say I can race, but Iâm not ready to date you yet. Like datingâs a bigger deal.â
âIt is to me,â Lincoln says, decisive. But his smile softens, turning her insides into a warm, golden mush. âIâm not saying youâre not ready to date me. Iâm not ready to date you. So you should feel free to move on, if itâs too long of a wait for you.â
âI never said that,â she protests.
âWell then,â says Lincoln. âWe should get back to work.â
âMaybe you should take this as a sign,â says Bellamy, once sheâs done complaining to him, but he says it without much hope. Heâs been making every argument he can against her choice of career/hobby since she started, even going so far as to basically give up on cars himself entirely, like he thought that setting a good example would cure her of her own need for speed. Itâs probably a broadly better tactic than his attempted proclamations when she was in high school that no sister of his was going to throw her life away racing cars, but itâs not like those worked any better than living a moral and upstanding life does.
Racing is in her blood, and sheâs pretty sure itâs in Bellâs too. Heâs just in denial.
âA sign of what? You think I should start dating?â
He rolls his eyes. âI think you should consider a change in career.â
âBeing a mechanic is a great living,â she says, straight-faced. âI do really well.â
âOf course you do.â He huffs and crosses his arms over his chest. âLook, you know I didnât like it when it was just racing. But you guys fucking meet hereââ
âBecause you told us we could!â she protests. They meet at the bar because Bell owns it, and he told them they could. And she does feel a little bad about it, because Murphyâs been making noise about them getting into illegal shit, and she knows Bell would never report them, but she also knows itâsâunfair. To put him in that position.
And sheâd say they could meet somewhere else, but then heâd just worry about what they were doing without his knowing it. And maybe heâd deserve to worry about that, but Octavia has trouble really feeling that. Itâs not like she really wants to start jacking cars either. They do a lot of questionably legal stuff, but heists that big are just stupid. Octavia races because she likes to go fast, not because she wants to get rich.
âDonât start getting into carjacking,â he says, which she has to admit is pretty fair, as requests go. She has the same one, honestly. Their current level of quasi-legality is good with her, and she doesnât need to push it any further.
So, in that sense, she should be thrilled when Clarke Griffin shows up, both because Clarke is an outsider, which means Murphy shuts up about how they should start stealing luxury sports cars until he decides if he can trust her, and because sheâs pretty cool, and Octaviaâs always theoretically in favor of having more girls in the squad. Raven is a recurring guest-star at best, and she, Monty, and Miller are definitely involved in all kinds of illegal shit. Which doesnât make Octavia dislike her so much as it just means sheâs busy a lot of the time. And she canât race anymore, after what happened to her leg, which sucks.
The point is, Clarke should be good news, except for three other things: one, she thinks Lincoln might have a thing for her, two, Bell totally has a thing for her, and, three, Octavia is pretty sure sheâs a cop.
Which would another reason to be grateful she showed up, since maybe Murphy will just get his own dumb ass arrested instead of the rest of them, but no one else seems to have noticed sheâs a cop, so theyâre all probably going to get their dumb asses arrested, and theyâll deserve it.
But itâs not like she wants that to happen.
She starts with Bellamy.
âYou know your girlfriendâs a cop, right?â
He doesnât look up from stocking the bar. âI donât have a girlfriend. And I know youâre just hoping I do because you think Lincoln is into her. Which heâs not, so you donât have to be jealous.â He pauses. âMuch as I hate to admit it, Lincolnâs into you. Heâs just not used to you being of legal drinking age yet.â
âLike you can talk,â she shoots back. âSeriously, you donât care?â
âCare about what? You dating Lincoln? Honestly, thatâs one of the least objectionable parts of your life. Iâd rather you dated Lincoln than raced with him.â
âI know. I used that as an argument why he should date me.â
He snorts. âHowâd that work?â
âWeâre still not dating. And youâre changing the subject! Clarkeâs absolutely, one-hundred-percent a cop. And you donât care.â
He shrugs. âWhy would I care? Iâm not doing illegal shit. Iâm a bartender. If I want to date a cop, thatâs my business. Iâve got nothing to hide from a cop. If I were dating her,â he adds. âWhich Iâm not.â
She scowls. âYouâre useless.â
âYeah,â he says, unrepentant. âThatâs what I go for.â
Lincolnâs no more help.
âClarkeâs a cop,â she tells him.
âIf youâre trying to stop your brother dating her, I think you need a different tactic,â says Lincoln, without missing a beat. âI donât think he cares that sheâs a cop.â
That gives her pause. âYou arenât pissed about that?â
âAbout what? You havenât given me a compelling argument that she is a cop, so I donât see why Iâd be upset about it.â
âNot that. About Bell liking her.â
âWhy would I be upset about that?â
He sounds genuinely confused, which just makes it worse. That means Octavia has to spell it out. âBecause sheâs cute. And age-appropriate.â
âOh,â he says. âI suppose she is, yes. I hadnât been thinking about that.â
âI think about it,â she admits, soft.
Thereâs a pause, and then he says, âIâm hoping, at some point, that I can talk myself into feelingââ He lets out a frustrated noise. âItâs not a matter of not wanting you, Octavia. Itâs a matter of still remembering you at fourteen years old.â
âThat was eight years ago,â she says, but it doesnât come out hard or petulant. Lincoln knows how old she is, and this is the most heâs ever said about it. âI didnât even like you when I was fourteen.â
He laughs, surprised. âYou didnât?â
âNot until I was sixteen.â
âOh, well, that makes it okay.â But heâs still smiling. âYou were Bellamyâs little sister. Sometimes I look at you and I canât stop thinking about that. And sometimes I look at you andââ
His eyes sweep over her like they never have before, hot and dark, an appreciation she didnât know he had for her all over his features.
âOh,â she breathes.
âYou donât have to worry about Clarke. And she clearly prefers your brother anyway.â He pauses. âAnd she might be a cop.â
To her surprise, laughter bubbles out of her. Lincoln thinks sheâs right about Clarke and heâs not into her. Once he gets over thinking sheâs a pimply teenager, heâs going to date her.
âRight?â
âSheâs not good at pretending to be on the wrong side of the law.â
Itâs undeniably true, so itâs no surprise when Clarke does reveal that sheâs a fedâwhich is, admittedly, not exactly the same as a copâtasked with looking into a bunch of shady shit, some of which Lincolnâs crew knows about (mainly what Ravenâs crew did) and some of it they wouldnât touch with a ten-foot pole (everything related to the Wallace family). Itâs more of a surprise to find that she really does trust them, and wants their help taking the Wallaces down. Itâs the kind of thing that Octavia is against in theory, because fuck the police, but for in practice, because not only does she like Clarke and hate the Wallaces, but Bell is totally crazy about her, so they should try to be on good terms.
The decision to assist her is unanimous, and Bell and Lincoln just tell her to be careful. Which she is, but anyone can get in a bad crash in a race. Especially when the other side is cheating assholes.
Clarkeâs the only one awake when she comes to in the hospital bed. Bell is slumped onto her, his hand clasped tightly in hers even in sleep, and Octavia blinks, because if her brother is holding Clarkeâs hand, that meansâ
Lincoln is holding hers, and heâs asleep too.
âNeither of them has left since you got here,â says Clarke, soft, her mouth curving in a smile. âI had some arrests to make.â
âDid I at least get credit for winning the race?â
Clarke rolls her eyes, but sheâs smiling. âNo wonder your brother says your priorities are out of order. Yes, you won the race. And you get the money.â She nudges Bell with her shoulder, gentle. âHey, wake up. Your sisterâs alive.â
Heâs surprisingly cool about it too, agreeing that she followed the plan and didnât do anything too reckless. He tells her he loves her and heâs proud of her, places a kiss on her forehead, and then leaves, which is a minor miracle all by itself. Her brother, not telling her to quit her day job, even though she got hurt.
Maybe dating a cop is good for him.
She squeezes Lincolnâs fingers. âHey, wake up.â
He blinks up slowly and then lurches forward, relief written all over his face. âYouâre all right.â
âJust tired and sore. Nothing a few daysâ rest wonât cure.â
âGood.â He leans down to rest his forehead against hers. âI was so terrified, when I saw what Cage Wallace hadââ He smiles. âItâs a good thing an officer of the law was there, or I might have done something stupid.â
âYeah? How stupid?â
âI love you,â he says, and itâs not exactly a surprise, but itâs a huge relief. âI would have done all the stupidest things.â
âAnd then youâd be in jail, and we couldnât make out. I think we should stick to just doing the regular stupid things.â
âJust regular stupid,â he says. âCar races with the usual level of danger. Slightly sketchy deals. Helping break down stolen merchandise.â He pauses, deliberate. âDating.â
âDating is new,â she says. âAnd not stupid. But we should definitely do it. And maybe be careful about the sketchy stuff. Iâm pretty sure my brotherâs going to marry a cop.â
He laughs. âDeal,â he says, and kisses her, soft and careful. Sheâd object, but they are in a hospital. They can do it better later. âAs long as we can still date.â
âYouâre acting like Iâm the one who didnât want to,â she grumbles, and squeezes his fingers again. âYeah. Deal.â

It made me so anxious I had to pause and look at my dog for a while. Too real.
I wish I had a dog! Or a hedgehog! Instead I just burrowed into my sheets and played Candy Crush to keep my brain a little occupied.Â

it's been like a week (or two?) since i watched it and i still keep thinking about what ppl would rate me in interactions
Thatâs why it stressed me out so much, because I think about this ALL THE TIME. Not in a social network capital sort of way, but definitely in an emotional capital sort of way. I try to be polite and pleasant in most interactions with strangers. I try to be entertaining and interesting for my friends. I spend a lot emotional effort going over interactions with everyone and trying to decide if I was good enough or on enough for whoever I was interacting with. If they got the parts of me they deserved. And like, okay, some days Iâm careless or impatient and I push past someone to get on the bus or I donât smile at a cashier or Iâm too short with a friend and then I feel TERRIBLE ABOUT IT for like, a week.Â
Iâd like to think that Iâd be more like her brother, just getting up votes from friends, or for the things I created or enjoyed doing, but Iâve met me and Iâm highly susceptible to opinion. I mean, yes, I wrote a shit ton of TRC fic because it was cathartic and I love the characters, but also because people kept responding positively to it. It goes both ways. And I think it goes both ways for most people existing in the world, and also that Black Mirror as a show doesnât have the worldâs most optimistic outlook on the place of these things in our lives. I donât think I consider that a failing in the show. Itâs certainly art imitating life at this point. But a little hope wouldnât go amiss here and there.Â
I have even more feelings about this showâs apparent views on justice, but weâd all be here all day if I tried to figure them out.Â
