There’s a sly cheekiness and sardonic tartness to Lauran Hibberd’s songwriting on infectious new single Hoochie. Even the title of the song divulges some of that aforementioned sweet spunk. The charismatic singing songwriting sensation from the Isle Of Wight is known for her humorous, off-kilter approach. Hoochie’s guitar pop bursts with playful, clever lyrics and charged guitar riffs that will have you bopping along gleefully in no time. The next time you want to hint to your friend that she’s a slut, jamming out to Hoochie might be the best way to lay it on straight and give her the message. Discussing her slacker-pop single, Hibberd stated: “‘Hoochie’ is a 90’s slang term for a bit of a ‘loose’ woman. It’s also the name of my new hamster. For me, this track is kind of that three-month period, after you’ve stopped hanging out with someone and you realise that actually they were kind of a tool, and that maybe you are alright. I think there’s a confidence in this track lyrically that I’m yet to filter through to my actual life. I’m looking forward to that happening”.
