Lesbyler who are secretly together or like get together while in highschool and don't really tell anyone.
At first they thought about telling their friends, but then they decide to just keep it the way it is, with nobody knowing about them, because that's just easier and less risky.
What they do instead is decide to just behave the same way they do in private, when it's just the two of them, with the only difference in public being, that they don't kiss. It's easy to do it like this, easier than they would have thought, because they're both girls and have always been very close. So really not much changes about their dynamic when they are around other people.
And sure, maybe they hold hands more or sleep over a little more or hug and cuddle more, whisper to each other or sneak off to go somewhere where they can be alone more often. But all of that is only a small increase in the things they have already been doing a lot, so nobody really bothers to question it. To their friends that's literally just how they are, don't mind them, you know how childhood girl best friends are.
For Willow and Michelle it means something different though and they both kinda like it, keep whispering and giggling about how people don't know they're together even though it should be so obvious. Sometimes they even secretly when they have sleepovers with friends, at night, in the dark, when they know that everyone is asleep and nobody can see them.
They keep doing this until one day they have another friendgroup sleepover in Michelle's basement and in the morning they wake up early. They're both sleepy cause they literally just woke up and they're cuddling and start whispering to each other and cause their brains are still half asleep, unaware of their surroundings, they kiss. It's soft and sweet and Michelle make a little humming noise at how perfect it feels and they both smile into it and then they hear a voice.
"What are you two doing?" They both immediately stop kissing and look at who said it and then they see it's Lucas who just woke up and is looking at them, eyes sleepy and so so confused.
And then Willow does the first thing she can think of and because she's a nerd she does the jedi mind control hand movement, tells Lucas in a monotone voice "this is just a dream, go back to sleep" and it fucking works!!!
Later when they're at breakfast Lucas tells all of them about this weird dream he had and Michelle and Willow try so hard to act casual and not laugh. They say that it must have been just because they're both so close that Lucas' brain made a weird connection and he should just forget about it, they aren't mad at him or anything. They basically shut him up by saying that that's an absurd dream and he should focus on something else so it doesn't get weird and Lucas agrees.
But then from that day on they both decide to have a little fun with it and so they try to sneak as many kisses into their every day routines without anybody noticing.
Michelle sitting sideways on Willow's lap when watching a movie with their friends and they sneakily kiss during a scene where the screen and room are really dark. They cuddle at sleepovers and have their heads close together, their arms hiding their faces and then they kiss and if anybody asks them about it they say that they're just hugging and to not make it weird. They sneak off to another room or the bathroom and kiss in there, acting like they were just having girltalk whenever somebody questions where they were for so long. When they walk in a group and nobody else is there to see then they walk behind the others and give each other a really quick short kiss. They kiss when the others are literally just around the corner and can't see them anymore. When they're out on a field in summer and they all go lie on it they pick a part where the grass is particularly high so it hides their faces and then they lie down next to each other really closely and kiss until they hear somebody get up.
It's always just hidden enough that it makes the others question their own perception instead of questioning Michelle and Willow and they love it, it's exciting and so funny to see their friends questioning and confused faces.
They also do stuff like asking the other to smell their breath and lean in real close or fixing each other's clothes without avoiding touching the other's boobs or butt, or kissing the other on the cheek really really close to the mouth without actually kissing the lips, while other people can see them. They use the same chapstick and don't look away when the other changes clothes. They share a stall when going to the toilet and go into a dressingroom together when shopping for clothes.
What Michelle really likes to do is, every time they hug she puts her arms around Willow's neck and then kisses her neck while hiding her mouth behind her arm. It makes Willow weak and is another thing their friends can never quite figure out if it actually happened or not.
At some point their friends do figure it out cause they got sick of the confusion and confronted them about it or maybe they get a little too risky with it and have their friends accidentally walk in on them.
They excuse it by saying "it's not our fault if you didn't even consider that maybe two girls are so close because they're in love with each other. We're just using the system to our advantage, it's not like society is really happy about two women in a relationship" and that shuts their friends up pretty fast.
Just. Lesbyler using the girl best friend thing to act really really close and couple-y in public because they can't be open and out fully but they also don't want to pretend like they're afraid of touching each other whenever other people are around. So they test some boundaries and have some fun with their friends to figure out and see how far they can push it. The answer is: pretty damn far. They probably act closer in public than most of their friends, who are in straight relationships, do and nobody even notices <333
