Glitter Glam Skull Tutorial
((OOC: Don’t say I never do nice things for you! I re-did the skull makeup and filmed it, so that you could see the entire process. So if any of you have any halloween parties coming up this weekend, here you go!
If you re-create this look please show me, I’d love to see! In the meantime, have a very happy Halloween.))
What you will need:
Wire coat hangers
Coil of 12 gauge wire
Pliers
Corrugated cardboard
Card stock (such as from a cereal box)
Glue gun + glue stick
Masking tape
Roll of plaster bandage
Brown pleather
Acrylic paint
Step 1: Reference photos.
Step 2: Make a wire form of the skull. Use the stiffer coat hanger wire for the extremities (the ridge of it's forehead, teeth, and ears), and softer 12 gauge wire to fill in details like contours of the snout and the eye holes (not pictured). Use hot glue to reenforce places where the wire joins.
Step 3: Cover wire skeleton with masking tape.
Step 4: Cover masking tape with wetted plaster bandage. (pro-tip: one layer or as few as possible to keep it light weight)
Step 5: To make eyes, cut out rough circles of cardstock, painting eyes on them. Cut eye holes corresponding out of the brown pleather. Hot glue the pleather over the exposed card stock. Hot glue finished eye pieces in behind the skull sockets.
Step 6: Use beige and white paint to give the skull a bleached bone colour.
