Do you know how one could get into BTS? Iāve wanted to get into the fandom for a while but idk where to start š
Disclaimer: iām nowhere close to be an expert of kpop and BTS in particular (i wouldnāt even call myself an army, but i wouldnāt do that even if i were the number 1 fan of BTS on earth bc..............eh, i hate fandom nicknames with a passion like, isnāt the word āfanā enough for you? idk)
Usually what i do when i want to learn more about a singer/group etc. is go to Spotify, listen to the 10 most streamed songs and then listen to the last released album if the artists has more than one. This way i can start from the "basis", and then i listen to the other stuff if i'm really into it. But remember that not knowing the entire discography of an artist doesn't make you a fake fan!!! I wouldn't say i know A LOT of BTS songs, i still have to listen to most of their albums bc they are very prolific artists, but i have plenty of time to do so and you shouldn't feel forced to do "homework" bc it's music, it's supposed to be enjoyable hahaha
When it comes to k-pop i think it's very important to go to Youtube too, because it's not just about music but also performances. K-pop idols are amazing performers, especially BTS. So watch some of their music videos, everything from the visuals, to coreography, to concepts is spectacular! And there are also plenty of fanmade videos that help you learn more about each member, they are like a guide ofr beginners and they are very useful!
Last thing, which is a personal opinion: always look for their music first, and then the rest, because people with prejudices on k-pop are annoying as hell, but nothing is worse than those people who only like them because they are good looking and stylish. There is so much more than that to know about BTS, they are a group of hardworking and good people, they work really hard on concepts, themes and lyrics in their songs, i think it's disrespectful to focus only on the surface, especially because they don't get a fair treatment in the Western music industry and they deserve all the appreciation in the world :( i'm sure this is not your case tho!!!!
