As Gloucestershire is where my Skillern ancestors came from we visited a village where we lived. It is the Cotswold village of Winchcombe. We headed out there and after parking went for a walk through the beautiful old buildings of the town. Michael pointed out some houses that Skillerns lived in in the past. We made our way through the village and visited the church where we did see a grave of a Skillern. This church was the location of baptisms and weddings of Skillerns of the past.
We had our lunch in a quaint little pub. It was very nice but a bit expensive. We did some more walking to Skillern houses before returning to the car and heading home.
After some tea we went for a walk to a nearby churchyard where Michael first saw the grave of a Skillern and became interested in tracing his roots. We are so grateful as his work allows us to know more about us.
Finally we walked a bit around Barnwood Park. There is a lovely arboretum that we could stroll through. It was a lovely relaxing end to the day.
