Needing extra money was never something that Madlen would admit to anyone, she had options to call up her grandmother back in Wales and ask for help, but she would never in a million years do something like that, and she knew that if she really needed the help Bonnie would come to her rescue, but she wanted to fix this herself. The whole point of moving out to a country that she had never been too with no one she knew was her showing how independent she could be and fixing this might just prove it to her grandfather permanently who didn’t believe she could do it in the first place. Christmas had just passed and of course she was short on cash as the commissions were not coming in as fast as she’d liked, her first idea was to sell her more expensive possessions like her computer, but then she wouldn’t be able to talk to her family without it running up her phone bill, so teaching classes in the evenings was plan B.
Today was her second class of the week, she was already feeling slightly more at home. All of her ‘students’ seemed to be around her age or above, all wanting to improve their art skills in different ways, to use as hobbies or maybe just as a top up after not practicing it for a long while. She walked into the room just before a few of the students and pulled her hair into a large messy bun on the top of her head, then she took her old paint covered shirt from her bag and pulled it over her blue dress as more people filed in. She smiled and said hello to a few of them as they set their canvases up, asking questions and talking to them. She figured getting to know some of her students would maybe gain her a few artist friends along the way. Once all the students from last week were in the room she walked over to close the door, though as she looked through the glass she tilted her head and raised her eyebrow. “Kip?” She asked, looking at the newest friend that had helped her over the Christmas term. “What’s- what’s going on? Are you here for my class?”
