Happy Fanfic Friday! It's been a hot minute since I did one of these.

This is a unique one! It's a story based on a Mistborn RPG campaign called Secrets in Stained Glass.
Rated Teen, 7000 words, set pre-Final Empire, canon compliant, Mistborn OCs. Spoilers up to episode 3 of Secrets in Stained Glass.
Teen-rated excerpt below:
âIâm done with this conversation. In fact, I think Iâm just⌠done. With all of it.â
A couple more indistinct statements followed, but Eliane was still trying to process that first one, and suddenly the Rioting disappeared. Everything had gone quiet, and she didnât think it would be a good idea to stay much longer. She rose slowly from her crouch, holding her skirts close, trying to squish the crinoline against her so its weight wouldnât push the door open when she moved. But she was paying too much attention to that, and a floorboard creaked, making her wince.
Not a second later, the door swung open and hit the wall behind it with a bang, making her jump back so it wouldnât hit her.
Dier glared at her from the back of the room, the door opened with his Allomancy from afar, and she tried to back away. This was none of her business, she hadnât really seen anything, and she didnât really want to know what had happened anyways.
âEliane, why donât you step in here and join us? Shut the door behind you.â
She knew without a doubt that he wasnât asking. Eliane followed the âinvitationâ and approached him slowly. With a cold sort of fury, nearly reminiscent of their cousin, he pointed insistently at a spot in the floor, eyes tracking her all the while.
As she neared the designated spot, rounding the long chaise, she finally caught sight of her father, lying lifeless on the floor, a hole in his head.

How the third sector can influence the future of social care in Wales
Social Care Wales will be the primary body for social care regulation in Wales from 2017. In this blog, Carol Green of SCVS and the Strategic Improvement Steering Group (SISG) takes a look at what SCW will do and tells you how you can help influence its direction by completing this important survey.
The third sector is an essential component of social care in Wales. We help patients to move back home after being in hospital, we support people to stay for as long as possible out of institutional care, we provide social activities that prevent loneliness and isolation, and we ensure that the voice of the service user and the citizen shapes the services of the future and determines the social care that people want. Â
The original White Paper on The Future of Regulation and Inspection of Care and Support in Wales set out Welsh Governmentâs vision for what was then called the National Institute of Care and Support. This has been rebranded as Social Care Wales (SCW) and it is clear in the Bill that the intention is that SCW will âbecome the strategic driver of improvement across the sector, for both the workforce and for servicesâ. It will be involved in the following social care activities:
Regulating the workforce;
Overseeing workforce planning, standards , development and learning schemes, including the regulation of training;
Supporting the development of research capacity and applied research, and assisting policy makers locally and nationally in developing best practice;
Learning from and involving people who use services;
Enabling collaborative partnership across the social care sector, wider local government and health; Â
Acting as an information hub in support of the sector for best evidence-based practice and promoting this practice across the sector;
Implementing social services improvement schemes to deliver national improvement priorities as identified by the Welsh Government through its strategic improvement framework for wellbeing;
Providing information to the public on standards and authoritative frameworks;
Providing information to the public, media and government on social care and social work.
SISG has been asked by the Minister for Health and Social Services to make recommendations on a number of issues relating to SCW including what its priorities for work going forward in 2017 should be. SCW is set to play a major role in shaping the support, training and developments arising from the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014.
As a critical player in that future success (given the emphasis the Act places on community support, whole system provision, new models of care (which may include the development of co-operatives and social enterprises), and the involvement of citizens), the third sector must get involved. It should be part of developing a governance structure and programme of activity that includes all stakeholders to help SCW become the engine of transforming our social care in Wales.
This is why itâs so important you spare a few minutes to complete this survey, telling us what you think SCWâs priorities should be. Your input could really help make a difference to the direction the new body takes. Get your voice heard, and help ensure that the views and opinions of our Sector are included in the recommendations to the Minister. Â
