Thanks! They're gorgeous but a bit hard to photograph, because the building's in a weird spot, hard to get a good view. And there are always a ton of people in the way, so I don't get a lot of time to experiment. I wish I'd had a better sky for these but I did have time to just mess around so that kind of makes up for it.

ugh I'm so sorry, families with shitty beliefs are so hard to deal with even once you're grown. Mine ain't perfect--they're not the worst but they have a lot of misconceptions? Which makes me furious sometimes because I KNOW they're capable of better and they just. won't. listen.

otoh, thank fuck for small favors, because my family is with me on this at least--hell, they're the reason this is one of my berserk buttons. My youngest brother has Asperger's and when one of the premises of that movement is that ~vaccines cause autism~ you get defensive REAL fast and do your research on all fronts and they never had a chance at making my parents buy that particular conspiracy theory. My mom has gone OFF on me on multiple occasions about how terrible and dangerous they are, and bless her, because for once she's given me all the ammo I need when people start that shit with me.

basically it is an AU of a modern business AU, in which Hal becomes “Henry V”, head businessman/company director, and then ends up with a spiralling coke habit because it is the way (he believes) to keep him always on his toes, ready for everything thrown at him as he proves he wasn’t just some layabout party boy who cannot change/didn’t plan it all from the start - and there’s nobody around to stop him, and he can use that questionable persuasive power on himself to keep in denial

and one day Poins, in his post-Hal life of mostly anger, gets a call from John Lancaster out of the blue, because it turns out that the potential for the business world finding out that your company-director-older-brother did actually keep up something from that disreputable lifestyle and it is a major impairment on his ability to make Good Business Decisions is enough of a reason to go back through his old contacts list for somebody who might be able to offer some help or insight

depends on how many papers you assign and how you’re defining “paper” i suppose. writing 5 reviews and paying $75 in exchange for half-a-paper’s worth of credit sounds steep to me but then again i’m not a teacher.

Well, it's half a paper's worth of credit that they won't be penalized for not doing (or for doing half-assedly, because I don't care about the quality of their reviews, I just want proof that they went), plus they don't have to go to all five to get extra credit and I'm planning on setting the minimum word count at 200 words, so it's not as though I'm forcing a lot of extra work on them or requiring them to spend the money. If they don't want to do it, or only want to go to one of them, that's up to them.
