#in my local art museum there is a little ivory diptych of scenes from the life of christ #from palm sunday to the ascension #it's like a little comic book sculpted in ivory #made in france probably in the 13th century #and the last panel has exactly this sort of motif #with jesus' little feet going up into heaven #and because each panel is slightly larger than an iphone #and contains multiple scenes #it's TINY #his individual toes are less than a millimeter across #one of my favorite things in the collection

one of my hottest musical theater takes is that 1776 and Hamilton are basically coming from the same place ideologically and neither of them is really "more honest" about the founders than the other, it's just that one of them is the one tumblr users liked when they were 14

#my other hot take is most of the songs in 1776 are not that good #they have good hooks without much holding them together #hamilton has way better songs #like yes. 1776 has 'molasses to rum' in it but it kinda comes out of nowhere and is brushed aside #it is certainly no more negative about the founders than hamilton is #(the piece as a whole i mean)#there's a whole song about how amazing jefferson's dick game is #made this non-rebloggable because i wanted to complain rather than discourse #ALSO i don't think 'america is maybe redeemable?' is an untenable message #like. most americans want their country to exist #reblogs are off because i wanna complain not discourse
