Who is this God person anyway? Part 2 (Jesus part 3)
Okay, so we have covered Jesus' early life. Now is the part that most people know, or have heard. Jesus' 2 years or so of ministry.
Most people know what Jesus did for his first miracle. He turned water into wine, at a wedding.Â
Some of the other miracles: making a blind man see, making a paralyzed man walk, making a deaf man hear, healing a "bleeding" woman, feeding 5,000, feeding another 4,000.....Even in the face of arrest, he (Jesus) healed a Roman officer after Peter (one of Jesus' disciples) cut off one of his (the Roman soldier's) ears.
If any of the readers of this blog have never seen the movie Passion of the Christ, I highly recommend it. Please keep in mind, though, it is VERY graphic, VERY long and is spoken in Aramaic, Roman and Hebrew. (The whole movie has English subtitles).
According to conventional wisdom, Jesus was a teacher.
Jesus was more than that. He bucked the religious system of the time. He ate with and preached to the tax collectors and sinners. (That's like a priest or pastor eating in prison with the inmates and preaching in a bar). That was unheard of then!
Jesus was arrested by the Roman government, subsequently beaten, then forced to carry a really heavy wooden cross for more than a mile, and then was nailed to it. In this process, God turned his back on Jesus. (His own son!) God had to; Jesus took the entire world's sins. The sins already committed, the ones being committed at that time, and the ones that are being committed 2,000 years later by everyone alive today. Jesus knew this would happen. And for 3 days Jesus was separated from God.
Then, the most awesome, coolest, greatest thing that ever happened, happened. Jesus rose from the dead! :D
"He died for all of my sins?"
Yes. ALL of them. All of yours, and all of everybody's.
"What about serial killers?"
Their sins? Yes. If that person was sincere in asking God to make his sins forgiven, then yes. And, actually, Jeffery Dahmer became a Christian while in prison.
"Whoa, if God can get rid of Jeffery Dahmer's sins, then He can get rid of mine.......how do I ask for forgiveness? What do I do?"
:) What a wonderful question. :) *Hugs* If you are sincere, then just pray something like this: "Dear God, thank you for everything. Thank you for my friends, my family and for sending Jesus to die on a wooden cross to take all my sins away. Lord, I am sorry for my sins. I know that I will still sin, but I ask for you to come into my life and purge me of my sins; my wrongdoings; my failures. God, I know that this life is not easy, but I am grateful for the hope that You have given me. (Eternity in Heaven with You). Lord, please help me to be a better person and to stop my bad ways. Please let my behavior show Your love for me, so that I can help others. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen."
