I’m not sure if you remember, but Roy Hobbs was reportedly the last person on earth to double space after a period. With his death in 2018 it was believed that the unnecessary extra space would finally vanish from modern typographic culture, but the debate seems to have flared up, probably due to the increase in personal consumption of bleach and other cleaning products by the general public. Several sources have also revealed that after five consecutive uses of a doubles space following period, Microsoft Word users will be banned for using Word for life.
